Where's Wellwood
For me personally, the eastern playoff race is almost more interesting than the western because of the Hammond story. It's also far easier to get behind an underdog like Ottawa, than wait for a team like the Kings to die. So here's what you need to know: Senators 93 PTS - 34 ROW@ TOR Sun April 5th SOL 3-2 vs PIT Tue April 7th**@ NYR Thu April 9th@ PHI Sat April 11thBruins 95 PTS - 37 ROW@ WSH Wed April 8th**@ FLA Thu April 9th@ TB Sat April 11thPenguins 95 PTS - 38 ROW@ PHI Sun April 5th L 4-1@ OTT Tue April 7th**vs NYI Fri April 10th@ BUF Sat April 11thRed Wings 95 PTS - 37 ROWvs WSH Sun April 5th** L 2-1vs CAR Tue April 7th@ MTL Thu April 9th@ CAR Sat April 11th ** head to head matchup of importance Ottawa looks to be up against it. The head to head match up against the Penguins will be critical. The Sens pretty much need to either go 3 for 4 or win out, and they'll need some help from other teams. Especially concerning is their poor ROW which means they'll lose any tiebreaker scenario.

If Ottawa beats Toronterrible today, which they should, then they will be one point back of Pitts, Det, and Bos. If Detroit loses today then it gets really sketchy. theminister
Detroit is fortunate that they play two against Carolina down the stretch.
gmen81
I'd like to see Ottawa get in, but at the expense of the Bruins and not the Pens

Basically now its in the Sens hands. If they can win out the season they make it. Not an easy task. But start it on the right foot against the leafs today and it sets up a huge (must win in reg) game against the Pen on tuesday. Hopefully Caps can do sens a favour as well and beat both the redwings and the bruins in their next two match ups

This is where 3 point games will make all of the difference.
Time Lord
Up until recently, the Eastern playoff race was just 2 teams fighting for 8th place. Even now, I can't see any of the top 7 missing the playoffs. The West is far more interesting IMO.

I don't know…. the Caps have 3 remaining against the Rags, Bruins and Wings…. two of which are in a dog fight for the playoffs too. If they lose out then they are in trouble. That's a tough schedule. However, if the Wings lose today then they are on the bubble too but have two against car down the stretch. The Pens could lose in reg vs Ott on Tuesday, after the Sens win today, and they would be on the outside looking in. I get the feeling that one of the Conferences will be decided by a tiebreaker and that's a shame.
theminister
And, of course, It's pretty much over for Ottawa if they lose to Toronto today. I'm sure the Leafs players and fans would love to be the spoiler.
