To say that Devils coach and GM Lou Lamoriello is disliked in the hockey community is an understatement.

Former president of Devils Arena Entertainment, Richard Krezwick filed a lawsuit in U.S District court seeking damages of $2.39 million not against the team, but Lamoriello himself.

Here’s what Krezwick is claiming:

Several weeks after Krezwick learned he would be let go, several of his senior managers were fired by the Devils, the lawsuit says.

Lamoriello physically positioned himself in a chair at the base of the employee elevator of the arena so that he could watch these individuals pass by with their boxes of personal belongings in order to leave the building directly after they were fired and to laugh as they passed by, as to take credit for their firing,” the lawsuit adds.

Apparently Lamoriello would also make Krezwick’s life hell in weekly meetings the two participated in.

“The meetings continued to occur and grow more acrimonious for several months, until the final meeting when Lamoriello launched into a vulgarity-laced personal attack on Krezwick,” the lawsuit states. “Lamoriello then abruptly left the room and refused to resume that meeting or take part in any future meetings.

To add to this, he has had multiple players come off as very disgruntled towards him, namely Michael Ryder and Martin Havlat.

To top it all off, Lamoriello has decided that the team will not be giving out any awards for the team’s performance this season. This includes the Dr. John McMullen Service to New Jersey Hockey Award, which is a staple for the state of New Jersey. The Devils might not be the greatest of teams this season, but a lot of that can be chalked up to the revolving door behind the bench and the fact that Lamoriello assembled the oldest roster in NHL history.

The last time the Devils did not give awards out was the 2012-2013 lockout-shortened season, reason being it was not a full season. There may not be many players deserving of awards this season, but one player who has been very good is Devils goaltender Cory Schneider. Even if you were to give every award to him, do it and stop trying to make your players lives absolutely miserable before you take a walk.

Go out with dignity and stop being a huge a**hole Ebeneezer.

Elias said he wasn't deserving of an all-star spot, didn't he? It makes sense if the whole team recognizes that they've screwed up the season.

I somehow think it went a little further with Lou..but true...not much to write home about in NJ.

Remember when he was the "model GM". Tough, very direct, gets results. Now it looks like he's slipping.... slipping a lot.

The problem is that the whole franchise has been revolving around him, all its successes in the past. Now there are like no real successor to replace him.

Lamoriello should've been fired a long time ago. He's running the Devils to the ground. He fluked out with Brodeur and Stevens, but otherwise he's a terrible GM. The 2012 run was a fluke, and he needs to realize that and call a rebuild in NJ.

Schneider should get it. His numbers are great despite the $&!#ty team.

Maybe if Lou didn't lose a bunch of first rounders, and maybe if his first rounders were doing something, he would be watching a playoff team.
