Is Canucks Hockey a Struggle of Good Versus Evil?

OP is actually right: I think there are more than a few fan narratives that pretty much sort out like this. It's maybe more the wrestling babyface-heal thing, but at bottom it's good and evil. The great thing is that this framework accommodates nearly everything: the refs, the DOPS, the big Colon, Bet-man, the neutral zone trap, Chicago, Boston, LA, etc., etc. Sky's the limit because we're all in favour of good and against evil, right? And of course there is real evil in the world, which gives us a way to be good.

That's that Kobayashi Maru test out of Star Trek, isn't it?

G.

And verily it is written that the Canucks will rise to the Final struggle and fail once...... then rise but fall yet again, ....then once more....much of the reason being the machinations of dark forces from another land on the opposite shore led by the devious Count who has a legion of striped minions that carry out his bidding.

But on the fourth time it is foretold they will prevail against the dark forces and raise the sacred Cup!

Break out the coconuts, we ride to Camelot!!!

regards,

G.

PS - on second thought, let's not. It's a silly place...

Well, it is said that good always triumphs over evil...and since the Canucks haven't won a Cup yet, maybe the Canucks are the evil ones.

Or maybe there is no good and evil in a game of hockey, just two teams competing on a sheet of ice. Whether a team or person is good or evil is nothing more than a person's perception.

Do you guys consider the Canucks as the good guys in a narrative in the war against referees, Betman, and the rest of the league? are these forces that we are opposed to evil? I think they are because they fundementaly do not believe in what we do.

What is the most evil force in the game? Discuss.

We are obviously the good guys but I think you have over simplified who the bad guys are. Bob Hartley always was and always will be a goon; it's why the Lames will make it to the playoffs. They most definitely must be regarded as an evil franchise along with the more obvious cases of the Hawks, Bruins, Rangers and Kings.

Don't really view the League or the other clubs as 'evil' forces in the sports world. The NHL brass is certainly self-serving and possibly corrupt at one level or another...but that could be said of pretty much any large company with financial deadlines to meet.

The other teams? Well they are just trying for the exact same thing we are, which we can hardly fault them for.

As for the most evil force in the League....it is obviously the New Jersey mascot, the NJ Devil.
