Man this is gonna be a great series. Two "never say die" teams going head to head. Honestly though, I think we crush them in 5. I'm not underestimating them so much as being very confident in our team. The way we put our demons aside and crushed Arizona last night should send a clear message to Calgary.

Overall I think our teams match up well, and it'll come down to intangibles. Mostly being experience. Most of our vets have been there and back and know how to stay calm, cool and collected in the playoffs. I predict we go into Calgary 2-0, they win Game 3, we take 4 and the series back in Vancouver.

Their young guns are going to be simply overmatched by our veteran leadership. I bet we see quite a few gaffes and mistakes by their kids.

Canucks in 5. Bank it.

Four words. 2009 playoffs: Chicago blackhawks.

The flames may not have the depth that the hawks had that year but they play a very similar game (almost identical) in that they have blinding speed through neutral zone , quick transition up the ice, some great puck moving defencemen.

Considering the Sedins weren't even 30 then and got eaten alive by the speed of the hawks , and that horvats line (despite popular opinion) has been on the ice for more goals against than goals for, I would not say this is a easy series we take in 5. The longer the series goes the more our d gets worn out by the speed.

We will need a good performance from our second line. If we win it will be because of depth.

edler merely needs to get the angle right. it's not like he's chasing him down. that being said, edler is a decent skater in his own right. last game he caught up and broke up a play after being the 4th man back in the zone when the puck was turned over.

Edler is thinking the game better playing with Tanev and not having to try to get the shot through on the PP (with Weber doing well at that).

It seems to have taken the pressure off him enough to steady him down...still catching Gaudreau (off guard or otherwise)...love to see it...my jaw will drop if it happens!

I would play the Horvat line because that is the line that has the best chance of gaining possession off the faceoff plus they have enough speed, size, skill and grit to make Calgary's top line work for everything they get. Over a 6-7 game series (which is how I think it will play out) all that hitting and size will start to take it's toll. Calgary is going to be a tough test but one I think the Canucks will pass.

Sedin line. Best on best. Always go best on best... Especially when you have two elite generational talents like the twins.

Also Luca the freight train rocking em into the middle of next week would help too!

Always go best on best..? Seriously? Sedins are great, But Elite generational talents? Dafuq lol?

To be able to shut this line down its going to be a team effort. The canucks have to be physical this series and everyone has to finish their checks to wear these kids down. We have seen it before but during playoffs the canucks sure can throw their weight around..

I don't think the Canucks have to necessarily be overly physical with the GMH line.

They just need to play well as a five man unit and not let Calgary spread them out too often,

Preventing stretch passes from the Flames defense-men will be the important task.

All that really matters is having Tanev out there against them. Tanev and Hammer would be nice but I fear of what will happen to Edler without Tanev.

Oh jebus :rolleyes::rolleyes:

You should fear the problem that Tanev is the closest thing we have to a 1st pairing partner for Edler and nobody worthy of replacing him. Edler is not the problem with our D.

This is where we're really going to miss Kesler.

We need to take the body every shift. Matthias better stop being a little pussy and start throwing his weight around.

Kassian is about to start skating so he should be back maybe game 4 or 5 of the series. Having him back fresh while the rest of the players start to wear out will be a huge boost and he could be a series changer with his physical play.

We should almost make an offensive line with

Baertschi-Bonino-Vrbata and a checking line of Higgins-Horvat-Hansen depending how the series goes.

A 4th line of Kenins-Matthias-Dorsett would be fun to watch.

Play them fast. Play them hard. Play them physically. These young kids aren't experienced in playoff hockey, so you've got to bully them around a bit to see how they respond. I can see Monahan losing his cool, and Gaudreau is pretty frail, we'll see how he responds.

Should be a great series, I'm really excited.

Never said Edler was a problem with our defence. Without Tanev he is arguably our best Defencemen offensively. But he seems lost without Tanev defensively sometimes. Not that this argument has any place here regardless :rolleyes:

Sedin line definitely should play against the Monahan line. The Monahan line is a big reason why Calgary is in the playoffs, if the Sedins can make them work hard in their own end and have to take it away from them then the Monahan line won't have enough offensively. Sedins can grind you down like that by working you in your own end so you don't have enough energy offensively.

We're deeper than Calgary and better. We can beat them by just playing our casual game.

Need to play them hard and work together as a team. Our lineup is deep to win if this should go to 7 games. Play to our strengths. Our experience and will should extinguish the Flames and little Johnny.

Make it to the 2nd round and ANYTHING can happen.

I Believe.

Go Canucks!
