coryberg Posted April 12, 2015 Share Posted April 12, 2015 You can't be serious. If it's going to be named after a GM it should be the Scotty Bowman Trophy. He's won pretty much everywhere he went, as a coach and GM. bowman actually left the Canadians in 1979 (after 4 cups in a row) because he was passed over for GM. He moved on to become GM (and at times coach) of the sabres for 7 years. They were an OK team but nothing special. He was fired in 87 and never had another GM job. You don't name GM of the year after bowman just like you don't name coach of the year the Gretzky award. Both really great at one thing but not so much the other.
