alfstonker
I was all for resigning him but watching him yesterday really frustrated me. Big body - strong guy... plays like hes 5'6 and 130lbs... if he wanted to make a difference he can but I don't think he will... he's just a big soft forward - we don't need those in the west. Absolute rubbish. Sheer panic inspired rubbish. It's like a disease in here, one loss and CDC starts having hallucinations. Good players become cr-p overnight. Honestly, some of this fanbase doesn't deserve a cup when you read the stuff on here. Keep the faith and stop dissing our own players.

The team overall played well. However, the second line struggled and Matthias was a non factor. He played a very perimeter game for a guy with his size and speed. He has been playing that way for a while now, not just last night. They also need to do something about Calgary targeting Weber.

Faith isn't going to make Matthias hit. I don't care about the loss - I know this series is far from over but any canucks fan knows that matty is just a soft player. Playoffs in the west aren't for the weak. I saw sam bennett take a run at our defence multiple times... hes 6'1 183lbs ... Matthias is 6'4 223.. You've got an 18 year old with 30lbs less than you taking runs at your team and you can't throw your bodyweight around? he's made for the east. I am not panicked at all about us losing game 1. Haha, that actually bugged me a lot last night seeing Bennett who couldn't do a pullup taking runs at our guys and our guys doing nothing physically, besides Kenins and Dorsett. Jack Fig
Let him walk please. Make room for a young player like Virtanen. I think that's what it will come to, probably by design. I was all for giving Mattias a chance to see what he can do, but as the season goes along, I'm definitely souring on him.
Ugli Fruit
Lol, he is tied for 3rd in goals with Burrows and H. Sedin and people are talking about how soft he is? CDC has somehow become even more of a joke since the last time I spent time here. Do people really think that you score 18 goals by hitting people instead of going to the net? There's a difference between a soft player and a player who isn't physical. His play along the boards and neutral zone (where physicality comes in) is JUST FINE. People are just neanderthals with knee jerk reactions who think a big player is useless when they aren't throwing hits left and right. I want to minus these clueless fcuks so bad... He's got good wheels and size but if he's not using them effectively...
CRAZY_4_NAZZY
He is another tweener on this team that can play up and down the lineup, but doesn't have a defined role. He plays the wing because he has speed, has great size but rarely uses it. He is 6'4'', but plays like he is 5'4''. Hands are okay but doesn't shoot enough. Technically can play centre, but is awful in the draws.
Dekey Pete
Let Sven or Vey play over Matthias until he learns how to body check! At least those two look like they give a damn out there. Someone needs to smack Matthias on the back of the head and remind him it's the playoffs. Maybe Weber should go after him in practice again, that seemed to work last time. More hyperbolic rubbish. Edler, Bieksa, Horvat, Burrows, Matthias, Richardson, Hamhuis Sbisa all made hits. Does this make you feel good to write complete untruths just to try to prop up your disrespect for the team in defeat?
Zuongo
After signing Sbisa and Dorsett I doubt that we re-sign him. Trade him at the Draft? We don't have a 2nd or a 3rd yeah? Hes expendable, I Like him, But you can't keep everyone. EDIT: I'm not saying we can trade him for a 2nd and a 3rd btw...

You are spot on here but the point is an 18-goal scorer is not too difficult to replace especially when you have young (much cheaper) options coming in next year. If he's an 18-goal scorer who can also utilize his large frame to hit, then he's much more valuable. Bottomline is he's not worth the money/term that will be demanded. If playoff game 1 against a hated rival can't get you going, nothing will.

riffraff
Benning should do everything in his power to keep Matthius if he has a good playoffs. Guys like this are very hard to replace at 6'4 with speed and some skill. He had 18 goals and would have probably had 20+ if it wasnt for health reasons. Id give him a 3 year 11 million dollar deal. If Toronto or some other bone head offers him like 5 mill per year and hes money hungry then forget it though. Move parts around if you have to for a signing to happen, we need more draft picks anyways. I think we could have got Sbisa for a tad less since hes restricted and then traded Higgins for picks and had the money to keep this guy here. I disagree. His play has gone downhill since the trade deadline. He plays soft. And imo, he was a noshow in game one. Edit: I don't even want to consider the money and term he'll be asking for as well. IF finesse is what he brings, there are younger, cheaper options with higher up-side (Baertschi, SHinkaruk etc)
