Did anyone else notice this happen right before Higgins scored the 2nd goal?

CBC didn't really mention anything about it but it was crystal clear during the zoomed in replay of the goal.

See here at 0:50:

Why wasn't there a penalty on this? Why won't there be a suspension? Please tell me how it's different.

its the canucks.... teams are clearly aloud to take liberties on them. can't you tell how calgary is running our goalie all the time... and where was the penalty when dorsett had his stick slashed out of his hands... and so on and so on... refs don't like us for some reason..

the angle from behind made it pretty clear that bonino's legs took out russell's. russell fell and reached out his arms to brace himself, a basic human reflex.

nowhere near as malicious or violent as byfuglien's and not worthy of discipline or being reviewed.

Because he fell and it wasn't anywhere near as vicious.

Quite the opportunity to drive forward with your stick into someone's neck...

Sorry, calling BS.

Yeah he was falling... but he jams his stick forward into Bonino's neck, didn't need to do that, he used his fall as an excuse.

Hockey players know how to control their bodies better than that.

People keep defending the crosscheck by saying that the guy was falling.

Since when does something being an accident exclude them from liability?

If you hit someone in the face with a stick, no matter what your reason, you get a penalty for hi-sticking. The same method of non-fault based liability is implied in scenarios like this.

May not be suspendable because it was an accident, but it should have been a penalty for sure.
