[DISCUSSION] Getting Nuge from Edmonton

Recommended Posts

I have a feeling that RNH, who hasn't excelled at Edmonton (<1 PPG when Hall and Eberle are there or almost) despite his talents, may be deemed surplus to requirements in the next couple of years with the arrival of McJesus and Draisaitl.

So, what would it take to get him? Not going to be cheap, but we need our future 1C and I like the looks of the following as our <25s:

Shinkaruk - RNH - Virtanen

Baertschi - Horvat - Kassian

AN Other - Gaunce - Jensen

Kenins - Cassels - AN Other

AN Other - Tanev

Subban - Corrado

Hutton - Clendenning

Demko

I'll start the bidding at Lack, 2015 1st, 2016 2nd, 2017 1st

It would take sincere overpayment.

Nobody in the league likes to make big trades within their own division if they can help it, would YOU want to help the teams you see most during the year? .... I sure as hell wouldn't. lol ^_^

There are ALOT of other teams that could make a better offer for RNH without doing as much damage to their prospect pool as it would for Vancouver, Nashville being the first one that jumps to my mind, Vancouver simply does not have the assets to make that sort of move and keep anything resembling a "Solid" prospect pool together, we have to keep what we have and wait to see what we've drafted over the last couple of years before we can make any sure moves - not to mention we need a couple of these NTC Contracts to end so we have a little more capspace to play with

Tanev and a 2nd probably would do it. Considering we aren't going to move Tanev and we don't have a second then my package would look a little more like this:

To Edm:

Sbisa

Corrado

Bonino

Jensen

To Van:

Nuge

Canucks get elite offensive Center. Oilers get two young d to fill voids in their lineup, Bonino who plays a good depth role and also would be a key penalty killer, and Jensen to sweeten the pot a tad. We might also need to add a draft pick of some sort

Jensen, Sbisa, 1st 2015, Sautner?

even the most oblivious and ignorant of canucks fans know that Sbisa has played like crap this year, why the hell would anybody else want to pay more than a fart in the wind for him? Even Edmonton. XD

Well..it depends...he's making $6 million US, the Oilers can't afford to keep all those number 1's and pay them that kind of dough....so I can see them letting one of them go for say a young goalie so they can free up cap space...

Markstrom? Deal! Done! Run!

If there is a trade for RNH to Vancouver it will take a blockbuster deal. If Benning could do it without giving up Bo, I'd be satisfied with what would be deemed an overpayment by the majority on CDC. He should be a Canuck...perhaps I'm clouded by nostalgia.

3 years from now, McDavid will be getting a huge raise:

Time To Experiment With Bad Contracts Is Over, This Team Will Demand $$$

Already going into the 2015-16 season $36.3M committed to eleven forwards, $12.6M committed to four defenseman and $2.3M to Ben Scrivens in goal for a total of $51.2M. Now factor in the fact the team still has to re-sign key RFAs this summer in Justin Schultz, Martin Marincin, work on an extension for Oscar Klefbom, add Connor McDavid’s three-year ELC and bring in a goaltender and suddenly things are getting fairly tight for the Oilers. Best case scenario that brings the Oilers to around $68M to get all those contracts done and bring in a goaltender. The team will be just a few million under the new proposed cap

EDM:

J. Schultz

R. Nugent-Hopkins

VAN:

J. Markstrom

L. Sbisa

L. Vey

S. Matthias

N. Jensen

1st Rd. Pick, 2015

Vey is worth a 2nd. Sbisa, even though he's not the best, is worth a late 2nd (at most). Jensen's worth a 4th or maybe a late 3rd rn. Markstrom's worth a late 2nd to Edmonton, and Matthias can provide strength for a team that will likely need it if it wants to compete in the playoffs.

So basically, it's a 1st, three 2nds, a 4th, and Shawn Matthias for RNH, and it clears up a few R/UFAs and contracts for us so we can sign Subban and maybe McNally.

Both are completely stupid proposals. A second and Tanev for RNH, what a joke. Or throwing four spare parts for a franchise center, another huge joke. Do you watch hockey?
