Mr.Plow
Gretzky just praised McDavid like crazy, great PR move by the Oilers to get the Great one to compare McDavid to himself. Chiarelli is a good GM choice
canucks3322
but he's not one of the old oilers boys running the team lol he can actually make them into a contender in a year or two ..

Guest Dasein
Chiarelli, McLellan and McDavid just might be enough Need to get rid of Kevin Lowe though
DIBdaQUIB
Scary if he joins them and then they get McLelland or Babs to coach.WIth Mc David and all the young players/assets they have to bring in some key pieces, they are looking to be a force soon and the Nucks will be hard-pressed to match them unless JB can work some wonders in dumping numerous vets for some strong young candidates.. ShakyWalton
There could be big changes in Oil country Lowe and MacT could both be gone with Nicholson and Gretzky on board...this from Hockey Feed... Rumor: Wayne Gretzky to take management position with NHL team? April 21, 2015 While we have yet to hear anything concrete there are rumors swirling around the NHL that suggest none other than Wayne Gretzky might be interested in taking a management position with the Edmonton Oilers. Many have already begun speculating that the appointment of Bob Nicholson as CEO of Oilers Entertainment Group on Monday was an indication that time is up for current Oilers President Kevin Lowe, and General Manager Craig MacTavish. There is a belief that the upcoming acquisition of Connor McDaivd has prompted the Oilers to look at sweeping changes. Nicholson is a long time friend of Gretzky, and both men have a long history of working together through Hockey Canada where Nicholson once expressed a desire to have Gretzky “play a bigger role” under him as the then CEO of Hockey canada. It’s long been rumored that Gretzky has been itching to get back into the NHL, and his strong connection to both the Oilers, and to their new CEO in Nicholson, could provide the perfect opportunity. McT would probably take an assistant GM role just to stay on with the team.

See I don't see why MacT should be on the outs. he's barely had a full season ish to do anything and even then it was done under Lowe's supervision AGAIN. If anything MacT deserves a season or two without that same tired old group in. Gretzky MacT Chiarelli and Nicholson sans Lowe....could be good
hsedin33
McDavd is going to attract a lot of higher profile players, coaches and management to the Oilers. Team might get really scary really quick.
Rush17
As scary as it may be with the thought of Edmonton becoming so good. It also makes me rather excited. These strong Alberta teams are going to push our team to be the best it can be. The Pacific looks like its going to be a dominent division once again in no time. MJDDawg
Wow, this would be huge news re: Chiarelli and Gretz. But where would Gretz fit? As GM replacing MacT? Certainly would complete the circle if Gretz came back to Edmonton, much like Trev here. So the equivelant of Linden and Benning here in Van. Question is, would Janet move to Edmonton and would Gretz miss year round golfing.
