[Value of] What would it take to get Malkin?

Recommended Posts

Its time for a major change in pittsburgh after an early first rd exit and malkin will be the one on the way out between him and crosby and most likely to a western confererence team.

With the aging sedins, canucks need a number 1 center to place henrik since horvat wont be ready for 1c.

bonino + shinkaruk + mccann + 2015 1st + 2016 1st + kassian for malkin

what would you add or subtract

The thing about Malkin is this:

He's part of an ever shrinking breed of player (Sedin's are in there too) that can turn a 3rd-4th liner and make him a top sixer.

There used to be a lot of those guys in the league, now there is only a handful.

I don't see that he is replaceable via trade, so you would have to get something for now and later, probably the only type of deal that makes sense would be: Malkin for first overall this year and Oskar K, Malkin and Sutter for Nathon McKinnon, Ryan O' Rilley and a first, Malkin Sutter for Kopitar Richards (He would rebound in PITTS and maybe and one of their great young guys...

Huge deals, Malkin might be the best player in the world and if you trade him, the earth moves,

Hmm, if the Blues are eliminated in the first round, there could be something brewing between the two teams in the off-season.

The Blues need a game-breaker (sure, Geno was scoreless in 5 but no doubt he's still elite) and the Pens would want depth scoring behind Sid and their offensive D-men. Stastny (cancels some of Geno's cap and actually scored a decent amount) plus a top winger to replace Kunitz's offense (maybe Steen?) and maybe another offensive prospect (Jaskin/ Rattie?) should be a starting point IMO.
