Pens will not fire HC, GM, or trade Malkin and Crosby

Recommended Posts

I'd do Henrik and Daniel for

Crosby Malkin (Pittsburgh retains 3 million from each player)

Personally it's a great proposal for us but I don't think the Pens would bite. Sedins are old farts but shine at times. Crosby and malkin are still superstars and produce consistently

Gotta think Letang would be on the market. That's a big chunk of their cap, and with Kris there they'd have around $13 million in cap space, but only 14 guys signed (Sid, Malkin, Hornqvist, Kunitz, Dupuis, Sutter, Spaling, Perron, Letang, Scuderi, Maatta, Pouliot, Lovejoy, Fleury) and guys like Martin, Beau Bennett and Ehrhoff, if re-signed, would eat into that big time. Trading Letang would give them so much more flexibility and they should have the offensive ability collectively from the back end to make up for the loss.

Wonder if, after that move happens, we could do something like Higgins and Jensen for Pouliot? We could use an offensive D-man and they could use cheaper complementary forward talent. Higgins drives play and Jensen could do damage with that shot, plus they'd be pretty affordable.

Pascal Dupuis was a big loss, a real glue-guy on that team.

Olli Maata was another one. Already one of their best D-men. Then their best D-man Letang too? And then Ehrhoff as well?

Even the guys who were playing...Malkin had a sprained ankle, Hornqvist a broken rib...

Penguins will be OK. Although they would probably be even better with a different GM.
