Prospects that would be lost on waivers...

Does anybody know of a website showing the waiver exemption status for prospects? I know for example, that we would lose Markstrom, Vey, and Clendening if we attempt to send them down to Utica next season.

That being said, Benning acquired a few prospects this way, knowing that their original teams had no room for them.

I am interested in seeing a list of prospects around the league that would fall into this category. Specifically, I would love to see the Canucks pick up Ty Rattie, as he as absolutely buried behind so many good young finesse players on St. Louis, but has been in the minors a couple years now. Would he have to pass waivers next year? And where could I find this information?

  • signed at 23: exempt for 3 years or 60 NHL games
  • signed at 24: exempt for 2 years or 60 NHL games
  • signed at 25 or older: exempt for 1 year regardless of games played

For goaltenders, players are exempt for:

  • signed at 18: exempt for 6 years after signing or 80 NHL games
  • signed at 19: exempt for 5 years or 160 NHL games
  • signed at 20: exempt for 4 years or 80 NHL games
  • signed at 21: exempt for 4 years or 80 NHL games

To this must be added that for a player signed at 18 or 19, his waiver exemption is reduced to three seasons starting with the first season he plays 11 or more NHL games including regular season and playoffs. The 11 games was prorated for the labour dispute-shortened 2012-2013 season, so an 18 or 19 yo player who hadn't previously played 11 games in an NHL season has his waiver exemption shortened to 3 seasons starting with the 2012-13 season if he played 7 or more NHL games that season. (e.g. Corrado)

The only way I know to see who is waiver eligible next season is to laboriously go through each prospect, perhaps using hockeydb.com or hockey-reference.com, and seeing whether they are still waiver-exempt according to the table provided by BaerOxHitman, subject to the shortening for 11 or more NHL games in a season.
