Boudrias
Location and construction date set. Investment group prepared to take a NHL franchise on prior to a NBA commitment. City is on board. Building supposed to be ready for play in the fall of 2017. Not as great a impact as the Utica AHL on the Canucks future but a very big deal none the less. Chalky
WANT! Seattle would be a killer rivalry.
Baer.
Do you have an article or link to post? Edit: I think for the first couple years it would be more like the Edmonton-Vancouver rivalry. We'd beat them 4/5 times. At least till they build up their roster.

Qwags
So Seattle would round out the Pacific Division with 8 teams, then which city would be the one to round the Central Division? Las Vegas?
avelanch
pretty sure the OP is talking about the sodo arena plans, not this new tukwilla stuff. however, here's a bunch of articles on it: http://www.lookoutlanding.com/2015/4/28/8506955/mariners-may-get-their-wish-with-arena-outside-seattle http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Investment-group-trying-to-fast-track-potential-NHL-arena-in-Tukwila-301456501.html http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/04/28/two-seattle-arena-proposals-now-pitted-against-each-other/ http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/morning_call/2015/04/tukwila-arena-plans-threaten-seattles-proposed.html the proposed location is just south of the Family fun center here:https://www.google.com/maps/place/Family+Fun+Center+%26+Bullwinkle's+Restaurant/@47.4649536,-122.243018,1034m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x54905d2c982a6005:0x9ddbef1dfc5fe1f9 I believe it's directly right where that white building behind the hampton inn is located. and honestly, that location is MUCH better than the SODO area. there's so much there, it's right beside a number of major highways (I5, I-405, and SH 167), right beside the amtrack station, a very short drive to the best mall in the puget sound, 5 min away from the SEATAC airport, centrally located to all the puget sound fans from the entire region, and a whole lot easier to access. and the best part is that this is 100% privately funded, so bureaucrats and labour unions have no say. it doesn't have to go through a public vote, it's not restricted like the SODO arena was. this is the best news I could hope for. (also it's a much closer drive for me )

skolozsy2
32 teams (if both Vegas and Seattle are both expansions, and both real) in the league. How do the extra 46 roster spots throughout the league get filled...with unprepared youth or fringe enforcers?
on the cycle
32 teams (if both Vegas and Seattle are both expansions, and both real) in the league. How do the extra 46 roster spots throughout the league get filled...with unprepared youth or fringe enforcers? In the event of an expansion there would be an expansion draft in which the expanded teams would get to pick players from other teams in the league and I believe 1st shot at Free agency (I guess advanced negotiation time) it is supposed to be that teams can protect either (1 goalie, 5 Defencemen, and 9 forwards) or (2 goalies, 3 defencemen, and 7 forwards) whom would be exempt from being drafted. these are however from the last expansion so I assume the protection rules will change should the nhl expand. MusclePharm
32 teams (if both Vegas and Seattle are both expansions, and both real) in the league. How do the extra 46 roster spots throughout the league get filled...with unprepared youth or fringe enforcers?they better not expand, talent is already watered down enough with guys like scott in the league. Relocation makes more sense such as moving Arizona to seattle and moving an eastern team to the west (Vegas?). Although this would make some divisions have more/less teams. CALGARY!
I'll be honest, I dont really want any more expansion. 30 teams is eneough, I have eneough trouble following 30 teams, 32 is just too many. And I honestly don't wanna see a whole bunch of good young guys from every team lost through expansion draft. Expansion drafts suck, especially on a players morale if you dont protect him AND he doesnt get picked, what does that say to him.

avelanch
it's not like the expansion teams are going to steal all the young guys or all the superstars. most of the top players would be protected by their team unless the team wants out of their contract for whatever reason, and all the first and second year players are autoprotected, as are all the draft picks who have yet to play in the league. expansion teams typically get a bunch of 3rd liners and then build through the draft, they're not going to want a bunch of 4th line plugs running around gooning it up because they want some semblance of legitimacy in order to draw in the crowds and bring the hype.
