Where was Benning? Instead, he signs Jospeh Labate( a career 4th liner) Blackhawks are a dynasty, they will never suck. They signed a guy a who will be a top 6.

Do you use any reason when you post here? There were 29 other teams that didn't get him either.

It is the players choice where he signs as well.... So take your illogical crazy talk elsewhere.

Chicago seems to have an uncanny ability to sign the most coveted Undrafted Free Agent's in the marketplace.

-Artemi Panarin

-Trevor Van Riemsdyk

-Kyle Baun

-Matt Carey

-Drew Leblanc (2013 Hobey Baker winner)

-Dennis Rasmussen

-Antti Raanta

And the list goes on. It's quite impressive. Mind you, some of those players in the earlier stages of development, but with the changing of the guard that'll likely occur this offseason to circumvent there cap problems (getting rid of Oduya, Bickell, Sharp, Versteeg, etc), the Blackhawks will have a young crop of experienced guys to step right in and keep up the pace that the veteran Blackhawks have established. Wish the Canucks could land more of these coveted Undrafted FA's, it certainly would make it easier to make the team younger. Here's hoping we win the Matt O'Connor sweepstakes to get the ball really rolling.

Chicago spends more than most teams (if not all teams) on scouting. There's no cap on non-hockey staff so Chicago has loaded up their scouting department as much as possible. They even have a team that scouts other team's prospects exclusively so when they have to offload big contracts (like 2010, 2013, 2015) they're in a better position to take prospects back.

Panarin is a low risk move. If he works out great, if not he goes back to Russia and he cost Chicago nothing.
