Sbisa, SMH.

Pumped for Virt and Gaunce. One of them will make the squad next year. I think WD would choose Gaunce. While Benning would push for Virt.

I personally hope they both make it. Matthias and possibly Hansen out. Keep Higgins and retain Richardson.

I'm being totally serious when I say I hope virt is not here next year. That's not because I don't want to see him play. I don't want to see him damaged by being rushed. That is of coarse unless he's on the Horva train. Developing early like Horvat is very Rare. For every one guy that developed early, there is ten that can't be rushed.that being said , the league is getting more and more young player friendly. Ya never know I guess

Virtanen had a pretty poor season. McCann had a start and stop season cuz of a nagging injury all year. Shinkaruk same situation a year ago. Let em both kiill it in junior and be 2nd liners for Canada at the world juniors. If one kills it in preseason, give em the 9 games. I prefer us to go Detroit model and let em develope under a good coach in Travis Green. Gaunce n Shinkaruk should have 50 AHL games and 10-15 NHL games. Fox n Valk (old teammates) should be able to make the Comets next year and help rekindle their OHL/WHL magic. Jensen SHOULD be getting 25+ NHL games this year, but it looks like his confidence went out the window once Baertschi was acquired. Cederholm should do well under former coach Travis Green. This year we have Corrado n Clendinning who should make the jump, but in 2 years itll be interesting to see which Dmen are ready for the big show

NHL-Corrado, Clendinning... Hpefully resign Stanton cuz we dont have a number 4 Left D

AHL-Pedan, Tryamkin, Sautner, Cederholm, Subban... Hopefully Sanguinetti and Biega unless they get one way deals elsewhere... Drafted Gavrikov in the 4th round would be awesome

ECHL-Liberati, McEneny, McNally... Hope we sign Cole Martin, or at least invite him to camp

NHL-Baertschi... Sign Jan Kovar and Fredrik Pettersson from europe. Kaspers Daugavins PTO as well

AHL-Jensen, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Grenier, Friesen, Cassels, Fox, Valk, Blomstrand, Zalewski, ... Hopefully resign Conacher, DeFazio, Archibald, Acton, and O'Reilly.. Would be nice to sign Cameron Gaunce as well

ECHL-Labate... Hope we draft overager Nick Betz late in the draft. I think he can be a top notch 4th liner like Matt Martin or Tom Wilson within 2-3 years

NHL-Markstrom

AHL-O'Connor and Cannata... If we miss on O'Connor, bring over either Jakub Kovar or

Anyone know why Dustin Penner hasnt been signed? Is it his D? Work rate? I never got that, or why he put up 50 points, got lotsa time on 1st line, then a cpl times gets dealt at deadline for peanuts. Even if his D is that poor, theres lotsa guys who stuck around for their offense. Brad Boyes, Glen Murray, Mike Ribeiro, Jason Allison, Zack Kassian. I think Penner at 550k would be worth the risk. Nashville was 3 for 3 with Ribeiro Volchenkov and Roy 1yr 1mil. Toronto 2 for 4 with Winnik Santorelli Kontiola Booth. Worked great. Sometimes it doesnt like Havlat, Gagne, Heatley, Lombardi, Mueller. But sometimes you can score yourself a Del-Zotto or McBain.

We can try some guys for under 1mil like Penner Tikhonov Upshall Sheppard Fleischmann Bernier Janssen Carcillo Downie Morin

Or spend more to get Letestu Comeau Beagle Slater Bartkowski Irwin Ryder Glencross Oduya Fehr Winnik Goc Desjardins Pardy

Or spend a lot more n get Beleskey McQuaid Stafford Frolik Franson Jackman Michalek Stoll Ward Santorelli Soderberg Meszaros

I don't understand why everyone is so high on Subban. I've watched him play often and he isn't really that good. He's small, makes a lot of dumb plays, ill advised passes, is a selfish player, takes bad penalities and just isn't as physical and talented as his older brother. Have the majority of people actually watched this kid other than in youtube highlights? He makes some great moves and scores at times but he leaves a lot to be desired. He is no P.K. that's for sure. I don't think he is the answer to our defense either. People lose their minds over Sbisa and Bieksa making bad passes and terrible give aways. Subban is similar but thinks he's his older brother.

Ive seen him a few times and i quite like him actually. We need to forget what his name is and just treat him as a 5'9 late third round pick. He is a longshot to make the NHL, but there is still a lot to be excited about. I'd say Gustav Forsling is a bit better then him already. Still, with small PMD like Vatanen and Krug having such great impact in the new NHL, there's reason for optimism. He can one day become a 6/7 dman who plays home games for 10mins even strength, 0 SH mins, but get 1st PP unit time . You are pretty accurate regarding his style of play, but he doesn't get pushed around. He's pretty tough actually, and training out east every summer with his brothers is a very good thing. His defense got a lot better last year, and the reason he had so many giveaways is cuz he has the balls to try things most Dmen don't. Kinda like Jovo when he was here

CDC, just has to keep expectations low, and remember that guys like him, Guillaime Gelinas, or Joe Hicketts for example, are longshots, but do have that offensive potential. I believe his comparable is Marc-Andre Bergeron if you guys remember him. Often a free agent, or a waiver pickup, but still a useful (strictly) PP specialist who did not get much ice time at even strength, and was usually a minus player, but stil able to net 30+ pts. If we have a top 4 who can cover over 45mins, he can play on the third unit with a defensive specialist who can cover his arse. Sbisa may become that guy, maybe Corrado, maybe Tryamkin. In order for this to work though, Weber can not be in the top 4 with Hamhuis. Hammer needs a partner like he has now in Brent Burns, or Marc Eduard Vlasic last winter. We see how good he is when with the right partner. Look at the difference Tanev and Salo made for Edler versus Ballard or Alberts. Hamhuis was good when Bieksa was at his prime, but that pair is no longer effective. If Weber is to be our number 4 (should be Franson, Michalek, or McQuaid), Subban may have to start off as a 12th fwd who plays D on PP, just until he's ready to be a legit bottom pair guy. Realistically though Clendinning who I have high hopes for, Ben Hutton, or a 2015 1st rounder like Dunn, Roy, or Chabot, are more likely to be that guy in 2-3 years. its most likely that Subban will cap out as a Bobby Sanguinetti type for us in Utica, who can get the odd call-up when we need more offense from the backend.

Dreamworld-Sami Vatanen/Torey Krug/Tobias Enstrom

Ceiling-Marc-Andre Bergeron/Jared Spurgeon/Francis Bouillon

Realistic Potential-Steve McCarthy/TJ Brennan/Bobby Sanguinetti

Worst-case-Patrick Coulombe/Henrik Tommernes

*Keep expectations reasonable guys. Dont compare him to PK, compare him to others who were barely drafted in the top 100
