(Speculation) Shero may shop #6 pick for scoring help

Recommended Posts

We do need RD, not LD IMO

With Edler and Sbisa at least for the near future, then Stanton, as well as Hutton, Pedan, Tryamkin, etc. I agree we're more set on the left side for sure. We have good righties, but not at the top end or with more risk to never make the NHL. Tanev's our top on that side obviously, but then we're looking at Corrado, Clendening and Weber. They're all good, but top 2 like we legitimately have with Edler isn't really there. McNally and Subban are more offensive but more risky versions of Hutton in our prospect pool. I'd take Larsson or Severson considering that for sure.

Yeah, on the right we have a bunch of bottom 4, 7th/8th guys and a few "specialist" offense guys we'd be lucky to have be 4th D's (and unlikely to have more than one...maybe two in the lineup at once) and none with any size. Certainly nothing I'd consider close to "blue chip" top 2 on that side.

If we can trade for a legit #2 (or projected #2) on the right side, we're in FAR better shape. Likely cost us some of those guys though (Corrado, Clendeing, McNally, Subban). Or we can sign Green :P

Left depth looks a LOT healthier post Hamhuis.

Ana, Det or TBay have excess youth/talent they could recycle into such a choice pick.

For example, Ana could choose to turn the Ryan-return(Ritchie, Silverberg) into a shiny, new, top 2015 ELC star.

Sam Pollock used to state, "Whoever lands the best player, wins the trade." It seems outdated thinking. In this cap-reality, you really have to seperate trades into short and long-term views.

If either TBay or Ana win the Cup, they should then look to pick up another prime prospect, as it's almost impossible to retain all assets on a Championship squad.

I look at all these trades from the fans of the team on this forum and I interject with some common sense.

Offering up Vrbata/Shinkaruk/Bieksa/Hamhuis/23rd overall pick.

Edmonton and Chiarelli laugh and offer Eberle Nikitin Pittsburghs pick and 25% retained salary for the 6th overall and Gelinas.

What now? Now you're seeing how laughable those offers are.

MMmm how about Toronto offers Kessel a 2nd and 20% retained salary for the 6th

Colorado trades O'Reilly AND a 3rd for the 6th

Oh wait, Carolina offers Staal for the 6th overall

See how foolish those initial offers are from this forum on behalf of the Nucks?

There are 5 teams drafting top 10 that can blow those trades out of the water with quality AND quantity without moving their top 10 pick and shedding cap in the process.

Come on, we're not getting the 6th for parts.

I find it frigging laughable all year long people are suggesting that picks this year are priceless, then we see multiple picks going out at the trade deadline and now those same people offer up crap for the 6th overall as though it's possible.

Come on people.

Even considering Sbisa is who we have on the second pairing post-Hamhuis, I agree. Maybe Hutton shows up in the next couple years and takes over, and we have one of Tryamkin or Pedan able to log reliable minutes so we can consider Sbisa expendable...

Some of you guys are completely out to lunch.

If Devils do move this pick, it won't be for a return centered on a 34 year-old with one year left until UFA status.

We actually may be good trading partners with NJ though - but not for the pick. Rumour is they may trade one of their excellent young D-men (Larsson, Severson, Gelinas, Merrill) for scoring help. The first two are probably pretty expensive (and righties, so less of a need for us), but maybe there is a deal to be made for Gelinas or Merrill (both LDs), with 1/2 of our young forwards not named Horvat/Virtanen/McCann (i.e. Vey, Shinkaruk, Jensen, Cassels, etc.) going the other way.

Thank you.

And Larsson is a much more attractive option for some of the crap people are throwing out there. But sadly Hamhuis/Bieksa and Hansen are NOT going to get you a damned thing from NJ and Shero...they want offense. This forum sometimes.

2015 1st, 2016 1st, Bo Horvat, Jake Virtanen

for

2015 6th overall

Better?

So I see Vrbata, Higgins, and Bieksa is the new Mason Raymond, Keith Ballard, Hansen.

Stop making these awful proposals. When is the last time you have seen a team in the nhl trade 3-4 aging guys in one deal for a top pick or prospect in the cap era? Never ever will it happen.

Lots of Vrbata proposals. No way they want him. Doesn't fit in their timeline. They aren't gunning for the cup next year and a free agent can bring what Vrbata brings. They'd probably be Bo or no deal.

I sure as he'll wouldn't have traded our pick last year for a Vrbata, late first and a bottom sixer

FTR... mine was more a commentary on all we can afford at this point, not a serious proposal. I'd love it if they took Vrbata+ but it's not happening.

Vrbata's a better trade at the deadline to a contender looking to shore up scoring depth.

Are you implying Bieksa, Higgins and Vrbata will be here next year :canucks:

If this is true, Benning should be all over this at all cost.

Vrbata + higgins + one of bonino/bieksa/23rd pick ( which canucks should rather keep and pile up those picks)

at #6 canucks can get Barzal, that future 1st line centre they need when henrik retires:

Virtanen - Barzal - Kassian?

Shinkaruk - Horvat -

- McCann -

-Gaunce/Cassel-

Canucks would be good at centre position for years to come

Or if they really want a defenseman, Hanifin could be there at #6 overall.
