Microsoft really blew everyone out of the water today.

The Minecraft demo was stupid, but I guess cool?

Super jacked to play that new Rare game, and the 30th anniversary collection is worth it for Battletoads alone.

Seemed like it Sony had predictable stuff and nothing really new

Rare is one of my favourite developers of all time, but what does it mean to have a game made by rare any more? The developer has been dead in the water for so long, with all the names attached to their classic games having long left their employment. In recent years they've made a bad Banjo Kazooie game, a bad Killer Instinct game, and the Kinect Sports series.

This game may turn out to be good, or even fantastic, but the Rare name being attached to it doesn't have any intrinsic value on its own. It's coming out for PC as well, so if it's worth a thing, you know I'll be playing it. I just have little faith.

But the compilation thing seems pretty decent, especially given that their putting full games into it. It's a shame that what are some of their very best works in Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2, Goldeneye, and Diddy Kong Racing won't even be in it, for obvious reasons. But some of these games like Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, and even the underrated Kameo would be fun to play if I didn't already own them.

Though seeing Joanna Dark there makes me very pissed that they and Microsoft continue to just sit on the OP like it's not a thing. I mean I would hate if they passed it on to some half-assed developer to churn out a generic shooter, but the Perfect Dark series is too good to just sit around and do nothing with. Do something with it.

Watched Nintendo's showcase. Mostly garbage this year.

First, Metroid Prime gets a new entry, but the false hope just leads into some multiplayer 3DS game, rather than a full Wii U single player entry.

There's a new Zelda game... on the 3DS... Following the 4 swords style, so just another co-op portable game like Metroid Prime above.

I've been asking for a Skylanders/Disney infinity type game for amiibos, but instead there's just 2 new amibos that will work in skylanders for the Wii U. No new game, and no integration for any of the non-specific figurines. Bleh.

Animal Crossing meets the Sims for 3DS. A series I didn't care about with a new game I dont.

An Animal Crossing Wii U game which is just a collection of mini games, with its own specific amibos.

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash for Wii U, which is hopefully better than the last 2 mediocre entries have been.

New Paper Mario for the 3DS, which likewise has to better than the its last 2 mediocre games which weren't even in the right genre. This doesn't look to be the right one either, which makes the Mario & Luigi series mashup appear more of an burden than a boon.

Finalized dates for Mario Maker and Wooly World, which are just announcements for games that were already revealed last year.

Fire Emblem for the 3DS confirmed to be delayed to next year for whatever reasons, but sadly and expectantly so. That was combines along with the Shin Megami Tensai X Fire Emblem game also being released next year, which was not news.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is coming out December 4, so thank god it's at least within this year. Not particularly early though.

And then Star Fox footage, which looked great, though I don't look forward to playing as that chicken mech thing. At least they said it would be coming out this year in a vague assurance.

That's about it. Star Fox does not a woeful showcase save. Especially with regards to the Wii U, it sucked. The best thing they did was that Nintendo World Championships reboot a couple of days ago. Their actual content was incredibly underwhelming.

Thanks for this, I wasnt home, so it was good to get an update on what happened.

All of this sounds pretty bland, also, not too happy Fire Emblem got delayed. Was looking forward to the game for a while.

Fire Emblem delay annoyed me, but it was fairly inevitable. These prolonged localizations are highly unnecessary either way. They know North American fans have fallen in love with every Fire Emblem game since they finally started translating them on Game Boy Advance. Most parts of it are looking so good already.

There was a lot I didn't like in what they announced, but the worst was what they didn't. Not a single noteworthy announcement came out of this conference, which leaves nothing once the games from the last E3 finish rolling out. Maybe there will be something announced at some point after this, though it's hard to believe they'd just intentionally hide something from E3 like that.

I wish they would just go and make a Wii U Metroid Prime game. It needs another legit entry, more to the path that the original Metroid Prime was on. That game is one of, if not my favourite Gamecube game.

Animal Crossing could do wonders on the Wii U if they just made an actual big game for it.

Mario Tennis I'm excited for. I played a hell of a lot of Mario Tennis 64. I hope this game that give me that same amount of joy. The other ones didn't.

Fire Emblem I'm not surprised about.

Star Fox I thought that chicken thing was weird as well, but looks like a cool way for combat. I think they could have made it better looking than a chicken and performed the same way. Maybe it's a bird because of Falco, though.

I was really hoping for some Zelda Wii U gameplay. You'd think they would have something to show since they showed a little bit of it months ago.

Yeah it was frustrating. I don't see why they would disregard an IP like Metroid on a console that has little third party support at this point.

Why not Metroid Prime? F-Zero? A less mediocre Donkey Kong sequel? Any new IPs? Bring back any old IPs?

No news on the Fatal Frame localization? What the hell happened to Devil's Third, is that not coming out any more?

Most of what we got was a bunch of crap on 3DS which I don't want, and I've been waiting for a better reason to pick up my 3DS. Now that I don't have Fire Emblem any time soon, and this is the best they can offer in the meantime, it's probably staying on the shelf for the most part in the foreseeable future.

The Wii U got Mario Tennis, which while nice, is not enough.

edit: Devil's Third apparently does have a release date in August, announced a week ago. But then where was the footage?

I'm also kind of pissed that they outsourced Star Fox to Platinum Games. They do amazing gameplay, but hopefully they don't frack it up with their over-sexualization of everything they touch. I dunno, I don't want a furry game with a poorly told story.

All we can do is hope that it doesn't shatter into a million pieces.

On a sidenote, I'm starting to look at this as one of the best E3s in previous years.

- Dishonored 2

- Fallout 4

- Doom

- Star Wars Battlefront 3

- For Honor

- The Division (Albeit, revealed last year)

- Fallout 4 again

All of those games are ones I would pay full price (The '60$' full price, not the stupid 80$ full price). They all look fantastic, and are all just so... great
