Nuxfanabroad
GREAT idea environmentally speaking, however..An ice rink in the desert. Akin to lounging on a cactus-sofa.
DrJockitch
A big part of the problem is the arena, the major part of the problem is they just haven't been very good. Move a team to a new area and they are bad for 2 decades. Hard to build a fan base. Florida at least had a cup run early to build up a fan base before moving to a arena in the middle of nowhere. Gotta be frustrating when the NHL threatens and cajoles municipalities to pay to build an arena and then because the arena is built in the middle of nowhere the team fails. Would have been better to stay downtown and pay for the damn arena yourself. Very disheartening to see the Alberta government now funding the Flames and Oilers arena. Was previously proud that Canadians didn't waist tax dollars supplementing arenas for billionaire team owners.
Bill Sikes
Their survival depends on whether or not the owner has to dip into his own pocket. Under Bettman the NHL has gone from a multi million dollar sports league to a multi-billion dollar extortion racket, Atlanta, Winnipeg, Minnesota, Hartford, Quebec all were railroaded out because the cities wouldn't pay the Bettman cartel its "protection" money. Once the public funding in Glendale dries up they will be out ASAP, the plans are laid its just a matter of bleeding Glendale dry before moving on the the next target. FireGillis
They're destined to move. Their only hope was winning the mcdavid lottery to save them ala crosby and pittsburgh. They didn't even end up with eichel either.
johngould21
I wonder how that Coyote fan feels about the situation now. He was on the board during one of the recent buyer controversies saying how hockey would work on the desert, how many fans they have, and that you couldn't buy tickets for $10. CanuckNazzy or someone I think.

That's the person, he was unwavering in his support for the team, I'll give him that. Too bad they didn't have 30 k like him.
