NEXT YEAR

likely to be in big trouble. will be a faint hope of making post season and if somehow they do, as has been the case, a quick bow out. can they play with the same commitment that they did during this past season? benning loves this team. he will likely tweak it a bit but basically go with the same roster. he seems to love the way bieksa plays. we are in trouble. san jose, la, colorado will all likely improve on their poor seasons. calgary is up and coming not fadin. mcj could have instant impact for the oil. not all doom and gloom tho; we will have a crack at what jb professes to be a better draft than the current. and . . . maybe trev will enact his 1st legacy, a new logo. i cannot be the only one who is dreading watching this same group again

I, for one, am excited about the new season.

I have a feeling there will be a few more fresh faces in the lineup, possibly even Jake Virtanen. I can't wait to see how Horvat progresses. I know they won't be Stanley Cup contenders, but I feel they will still be competitive and I am good with that. I don't believe in tanking, or even in rooting for a poor performance just to get a better draft pick.

While I agree that L.A. will likely have a bounce back season, there is no guarantee that SJ or Colorado or Edmonton will have any improvement or that Calgary will be able to build on what they did this year.

I can't wait for the new season to begin.

I'm really excited for the coming season. Positives no matter which direction it goes. We do poorly? We draft high (or well, higher!) and possibly force Bennings hand to rebuild/retool/whatever faster (new prospects = exciting). We do well, then we get to watch our team do well!. Plus more playoff hockey. :)

Then next off season at the latest, I expect a serious overhaul of our AHL level defense. Thats exciting too, See? Lots to be excited about. ::D

As a team we have to improve and if not we will fall behind. A transition from veterans to fresh faces can be a difficult period. The right mix of players at the right time will be a key factor. Hopefully some new blood and coaching staff with a year under their belt with this team will make a difference.

wasn't the same said about this year, but with different teams and look how it turned out.

I actually think the next season might be more exciting than this season with at least three new faces coming in; it will be interesting to watch the young guys and to watch Horvat continue to improve. I have big hope that he hits 50 points next season.

Having said that, I agree that there is a very good chance that we could miss the playoffs:

-Those games against the Oilers will be much harder now that they have a real good coach.

-Colorado and Dallas surged at the end of the season, they will be good.

-It's hard to expect that LA and SJ will be as bad as they were this season.

-Our core is one year older.

-Young guys need time to gel and adjust. Might underperform or go through minor slumps here and there.

But one feeling that I get is about Calgary. I somehow have this feeling that Calgary is going to struggle next season.

My guess is calgary has a similar year to colorado's this past season. In 2013-14 Colorado won games in an unsustainable way, similar to calgary in 2014-15. They weren't a good possession team and I think it's going to catch up to them.

Capitalization and proper paragraph structure would help this post a lot.

The content is a rehash of a million other vague posts from worry warts
