TOMapleLaughs
Randy Carlyle was supposed to bring them the cup. Pat Quinn. etc. Not knocking Babs, but it's pretty obvious that he just wanted to up the bar for coaching contracts across the NHL. Mission accomplished. RUPERTKBD
According to ta report from Jeff Veillette of the Leaf’s Nation Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment’s private jet is scheduled to land in Detroit at 5:42 PM today and will then take off just minutes later at 5:45 pm making it seem very much like they are simply picking someone up. This would seem to indicate that Mike Babcock is the next head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs but as of this writing it’s still unconfirmed. Either that, or Shanny has a hankering for some Little Caesars...

TOMapleLaughs
Considering initial offers for him were ranging in $4mil range and that was considered very high, I'd say Babs did pretty well for himself. Congrats. Enjoy your stay in TO.
SabreFan1
Elliotte FriedmanVerified account @FriedgeHNIC because of the out, could be as high as $8M. RUPERTKBD
If that's USD and not Canadian money, he just struck it rich. Good on him. I'm guessing that there's a few Leafs veterans that are crying right about now. Babcock is not known for putting up with any B.S. He'd be pretty rich in Canadian dollars as well.... TOMapleLaughs
Staggering $8mil per for his first 3 years there. -BobbyMac It's a pretty sad off-season when the biggest UFA is a coach imho.

SabreFan1
He's gonna be fired after two inevitable losing seasons. Won't ever happen but that would be hilarious. They'd owe him the whole contract. $25 million per year. That would be crazy.
