bigpush
Van - Buf Lack, Higgins and Jensen for Folignio and 2nd (Buf) Buffalo gets a young goalie who looks ready to be a starter, a vet who could help mentor some of the youth and a lower end prospect who if he turns it around would be NHL ready soon. Van gets a good pick and a young 3rd liner with size, pedigree and a decent hands. Lack is the best player moving in this deal but it doesn't look likely that Miller is going anytime soon and he has decent value right now. Van - Ott Bieksa for Smith With rumors of Chris Phillips retiring, Ottawa acquire a vet D whose cap hit (4.6) exceeds his salary (2.5) who would replace Phillips vet presence and Ottawa is always looking for bargains. Van acquires a 4th line C with decent size and faceoff abilities. Van - Wpg Hansen for a 3rd and Lipon The jets get a productive 2 way pressence with ties to the area. Van gets a pick and a B grade prospect. Resign RFA's Baertschi,Clendening,Vey, Markstrom and Kennins for ~ 6.5 million Sign UFA Franson to 5 year 5.5 million contract. Cap works after trades and the team recoups some picks and gets bigger and younger without sacrificing much in the way of skill. The only reason I consider trading Lack is because Miller is untradable and Lack has good value now. Obviously Bieksa, Higgins and Hansen would need to waive but I think Hansen with his ties to WPG (his wife and his time with the Moose), Bieksa being from Ontario and Higgins from the New York area these destinations are at very least possible. DrChill
Only trade that is good is the wpg one, and unlikely to happen.

Phil_314
First two are over-payments IMHO. If we're trading Jensen for the 2nd then we're pretty much saying he's busted. Not sure I'd want to do that when we could package him for an NHL player. That leaves Lack and Higgins for M. Foligno, which is already not worth it since Higgins can put up around 35-40 points consistently and Lack can be a 1-B starter for weaker teams, while Foligno is a 3rd liner with power-forward potential which has yet to materialize. I'd do Higgins for Foligno but probably not more. Juice could probably get more from another team needing experienced D, say a 2nd and prospect. Sure, Smith is a decent 4th line center but Juice is probably still worth more. Don't know about the last one (about Lipon) so not gonna comment. What would he bring to the table? RonMexico
Why acquire more peripheral players? Trading 3rd line types for more 3rd line types is a lateral move more than anything and those spots could be used to develop someone from within. This team needs impact players if it is going to do anything other than tread water for another season.

Jensen is struggling to get into the AHL roster and while I won't call him a bust he certainly isn't worth a 2nd let alone the 31st overall pick. I really doubt he is bringing back an NHL player at this point. I also think you are overvalueing Bieksa's worth, remember all Benning was able to get for Garrison who is younger and putting up better numbers was a later 2nd. Lipon is a decent prospect, hard working 2 way guy who if reachs his potential would be a similar player as Hansen, the 3rd is more key in that deal imo though. The deals also clear cap in order to potentially improve the teams D, which is the teams biggest weakness at this point imo.

desiboynux4lifee*******
We already have enough third and fourth liners. Pretty much this but I wouldn't mind Folingo. However, the number one concern needs to be defencemen. Need to make a steal trade like Calgary did with Russel, so it's possible.
