Here is the situation with waivers players Waiver (in Utica right now) Corrado Clendening Baertschi Markstrom Deserve a long look at trainning camp (Non Waivers) Virtanen Gaunce Grenier 2014-2015 lineup Sedins-Burrows Higgins-Bonino-Vrbata Matthias-Richardson-Kassian Hansen-Horvat-Kenins Vey-McMillian-Dorsett Tanev-Edler Hamhuis-Weber Bieska-Sbisa Miller Lack UFA Richardson Matthias Weber Stanton??? RFA Clendening Corrado Markstrom Vey Baertschi McMillian (sorry if i forgot anybody) Pending UFA's Lack Bieska Hamhuis Vrbata So as you can see we have to make room for at least 4 players, 1 forward 2 defenceman and 1 goalie. Put them into the lineup and you get Sedins-Burrows Baertschi-Bonino-Vrbata Higgins-Horvat-Kassian Hansen-Vey-Dorsett Tanev Edler Hamhuis Clendening Corrado-Sbisa Bieska Miller/Lack/Markstrom I know Benning said he wanted to sign Weber but I can't seeing him fit anywhere on the roster Now lets add in Virtanen Sedins-Burrows Baertschi-Bonino-Vrbata Higgins-Horvat-Kassian Virtanen-Vey-Dorsett McMillian-Hansen Tanev-Edler Hamhuis-Sbisa Clendening-Corrado Bieska Trade proposal time Cbj Corrado Van Rychel It's basically just creating some room on the backend, while getting a young forward Pittsburg Kassian Vrbata Van Pitts 2016 3rd Beau Bennett Brain Dumoulin Bennett is a risk with his injury history but could be a good replacement for Vrbata if he stays healthy. Dumoulin replaces Corrado who was traded for Rychel. We recover a 3rd which was traded away for Pedan. Kassian can fill out a nice 2/3 line role for pittsbugh and give them some more young depth. Vrbata can light it up with Crosby or Malkin. We're getting fleeced in that, and long-term keeping Vrbata and flipping him at next years deadline is the ideal situation. Phil_314 Posted May 22, 2015 Share Posted May 22, 2015 With the build-up of young and old guys who can fit on the roster, gotta think we'd package some younger guys and roster vets for early picks and vets from cash-strapped teams who can't afford to keep their man anymore. Twins, Eddie, Tanev, one of Miller/ Lack, Horvat, Bones (strictly because he was the return for Kes), Dorsett and Sbisa likely won't get moved (I'd be open to certain surprises). Vrbata, Juice, Higgins, Hansen, Vey, Kassian and Hammer have all been in the rumor mill and we can get various picks, prospects and young, ready players for these guys. It'd be exciting to see who gets moved and who stays, and which prospects join the roster, but about OP's post I really hope Jake doesn't start on the 4th. Signing Sbisa was a good indication of where this team is headed. And Benning's idea of signing Weber is not much better. I'll reserve judgement until the beginning of next season, but coming back with the same lineup will truly be a statement of throwing in the towel.
