Pretty neat and I would say quite accurate. I'm in New West and there definitely is a large Filipino community. I don't know why there is such a high Chinese population in the forests on the north shore. Interactive Map available in the link.

A new heat map by Estate Block utilizes data from the National Household Survey to determine where different immigrant ethnicities reside in Metro Vancouver and across the South Coast.

The map, built by Estate Block and shared across Reddit, highlights where 10 of the most populous groups of immigrants live, including those from the United Kingdom, India, China, Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, Iran, United States, Netherlands and Taiwan.

Immigrants in Metro Vancouver by majority in the neighbourhood shows Chinese make up the largest proportion of immigrants in most of Metro Vancouver, particularly the City of Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond.

Is Deer lake area mainly immigrants from China now? It used to be more of a mix of everything when I grew up there lol.

In fact, we only had 3 from Taiwan, 2 from Hong Kong, 1 from China, and about 5-6 from India in my whole grade in elementary school.

But that was wayyyyyyyyyy back then though.............=(

it's not that these populations are the dominant population in that area, it's just the largest immigrant population in that area. a number of areas have the winning immigrant population somewhere around 5%... sometimes less. meaning they have a very diverse immigrant population or a very low immigrant population in that area, or both.

That map is highly inaccurate.

eg.

2.2% Phillpine in Robson Vancouver and the whole area is colored yellow. Who is the other 98%?

5.6% China - Yaletown - yet the area is coloured Red for China - 94% are NOT Chinese.

4.13% UK - in Fairview - How about the other 96%?

these small % does not make them the majority population

the map never said it was the majority population. it's merely the majority population of immigrants (eg. foreign born residents). anyone born in canada are not considered immigrants. and would make up the rest of that area's population.

There are 195 other countries in the world people can immigrate from. These are the dominant immigrant populations.

Yea, true.

I just meant, China immigrants wasn't the majority immigrant population back when I grew up there, in fact, it was mostly immigrants from Taiwan/Hong Kong.

So I was surprised to see it Red. Meanwhile Burnaby Lake area is Pink.
