You know what my favourite thing is? It's when someone makes their first CDC post ever by creating a trade proposal thread. Proposals are generally bad enough but to make your first CDC post a new thread and have it be a bad proposal? Your'e really setting yourself up for failure.

To be more specific, you can't just trade for 'defencemen' or 'picks', and then you also can't just flip that generic return for something else specific. I don't think you understand the value of what could be returned either, or what trading both Lack and Markstrom does to our goaltending (especially when Demko will be in college still). Then there's drafting Crouse with the 10th overall pick you obtain, and signing Green despite only moving out Higgins and Hansen for cap ($5M out, but easily $6+M for Green and then we still have 6-7 other players to sign to get to a 23 man roster).

EDIT: oh, and any thread in this sub-forum needs to have tags. Take a look at the other threads in this sub-forum (or just read the pinned thread at the top) and you'll start to get what I'm talking about.

In all fairness, he did call it a pipe dream.

Markstrom and Lack would both command defensive equals, in potential and age. Colorado has made it clear they are in search of defensemen and are willing to move O'Reilly for that. The "dream" part of the equation is dealing the two for two defensemen then trading them to Colorado for O'Reilly (could be accomplished in a 3 team trade) - I would sweeten the deal with Clendening and Weber, two more young defensemen with decent potential. Colorado would receive four young defensemen, what they need and want. Probable? Probably not. Possible? Yup. Parts are interchangeable of course, this is a form not a memo to NHL head office.

With some wheels we could receive four 2nd round picks for Baertschi, Vey, Shinkaruk and Jensen. The "dream" would be to receive those picks then flip them and our 23rd for Colorado's 10th - our new trading partner. Again, pieces are interchangeable. If they want more, give it to them.

Do both teams win? I don't know. But I like the line up, now and for tomorrow.

Now lets address the dreadful CAP issues I've pretzeled. Get those wheels back on "dream" and trade Vrbata, Bonino and Burrows for three 2nd round picks. Trade those picks for the 38th and draft Sprong.

D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Sprong = 14,925,000 - Sprong at 925,000

Crouse - O'Reilly - Kassian = 8,675,000 - Crouse at 925,000

Kenins - Horvat - Virtanen = 2,819,167 - sign Kenins at 1m

Downie - McCann - Dorsett = 4,575,000 - sign Downie at 1m

Edler - Tanev = 9,450,000

Hamhius - Green = 10,500,000 - sign Green at 6m

Sbisa - Bieksa = 8,200,000

Miller = 6,000,000

Erikkson = 1,000,000 - Sign at 1m

Total = 66,144,167

Remainder = 4,855,833ish

Now that's a pipe dream.

What the bloody hell is this? No! Just no. To the whole deal from a Colorado standpoint.

You want the 10th? We're getting Edler or else we'll just keep the pick thanks. You want ROR? You're going to have to do A LOT better than unnamed D and two bottom pairing guys we have absolutely no interest in. We have enough 5-7 guys. What we need is top 4 lefties (preferably defense oriented). If we're giving up the 10th and ROR we sure as hell better be getting back a replacement top 6 forward to go with Edler. Even then if Crouse is on the board you'll have to pry the pick out of Roy's cold dead hands.

Maybe I over valued Lack and Markstroms return. Id like to think they'd command a decent enough return to make something work.

As for 4 2nd's and the 23rd for the 10th pick. If it doesn't work go a little higher or throw in next years 1st instead.

You mean Sakic's hands and he's already shown he's brutal. Briere for Parenteau. Downie for Talbot. Stastny for nothing.

It doesn't matter to elvis15. Once his mini mod mind races, there's no stopping him.

Really, that's going to be your contribution to this thread? Bumping it after it'd been inactive for more than half a day just to try and slip in a jab?

You'll have to do better than that.

My favourite part is how JB trades every youngster he acquired in the past year.
