Nicklas Bo Hunter
So as we all know the asking price on lack is a 2nd round pick. Some are upset but the asking price is actually pretty fair considering all the teams in need of a goalie have great second round picks. To Van: 2nd round pick 2015 (Buf) To Buf: Lack Buff does this because they have been bringing in some young guys into line up so their window to compete is a couple seasons away. no point to bring in a big name goalie with big bucks yet. Lack is young and will still be a good goalie for them when they are ready to compete. Vancouver does this because it is the best 2nd round pick we can get. Benning already went after Benning seems to be trying to find another goalie to have a Demko+? system. The 2nd round pick allows us to find our second future goalie. With the 2nd round pick Vancouver selects Blackwood. We have a future tandem of Demko, Blackwood. two potential high class starting goalies. RonMexico
So trade a goalie who can be starter for a draft pick to select a goalie who might ever make the NHL?
Nicklas Bo Hunter
So trade a goalie who can be starter for a draft pick to select a goalie who might ever make the NHL? We have Three NHL Goalies. Miller, Lack, Markstrom. One needs to go. Think of it as trading one potential starter for another potential starter in the future when we could not be so lucky with the goalie quality that we have. This is how elite teams stay elite. their prospect pool is always stocked.
JC Petit
Shipping Miller out would be my first choice (whole other discussion......) but if it is Lack that goes, I'd take that deal. To be clear, preferably BUF's 2nd as they also hold NYI's 2nd as well.
Warhippy
Just a heads up. We JUSt had Jackson Whistle of the Kelowna Rockets on a PTO and Benning/Linden said they'd offer him another next young stars tourny. We don't really need more young goalies yet

ForsbergTheGreat
This makes zero sense. This team has far greater need then acquiring another potential goalie. We already have Markstrom and Demko in the system. If we were to acquire that pick, it would not be another goalie that they select. It would be to stock pile up prospects in an area that we are weak in, say such as Defense. They went after O'Connor. Seems they still want another goalie prospect. O’Connor was free, why wouldn’t they go after another free prospect. Just because they tried to sign O’Connor, you think they are desperate for another goalie prospect. I bet Montreal also kicked the tired on O’Connor. Does that mean they don’t believe in Price long term? A free prospect is a free asset.

canadiangunner
Bruce Gariorich has started a virus with his absurd rumor. He is awful as bad as Eklund. No way is Benning shopping Lack for a 2nd rounder. That would be a stupid move on JB's part. Lack for a first rounder perhaps but he probably wants to trade him for a young already drafted prospect instead. Teams might be offering a 2nd rounder for him but no way is that the asking price from JB. Don't believe everything you here folks, Bruce is a bonehead, check his history he is seldom right. The proper valuationfor lack is a second round pick. Dubnyk- third round pick. Bishop- Cory Conacher, 4th round pick. Kari Lethonen- Ivan Vishnevskiy, 4th round pick Neuvirth- Chad Johnson, 3rd round pick Just some examples. As you can see We should be able to get a 2nd- 3rd round pick or 3rd-4th with a not so special prospect coming back. Yet again people over valuing our players. Phil_314
SabreFan1 would like to have a few words with you on that... (It's also in instances like these that it's great to have other teams' fans on this site to keep proposals realistic to match both teams' needs). billabong
Lacks ceiling might be a Howard type player, good not great but he's more of a sure thing to be an nhl'er then markstrom who is still a question mark. If you consider all the facts getting a 2nd pick is a decent return because they wanna get something before the market gets too thin

With the 2nd round pick Vancouver selects Blackwood. We have a future tandem of Demko, Blackwood. two potential high class starting goalies. This proposal has two parts. 1. The Lack to Buffalo for the first pick in the 2nd round, 2015. That would be a good return to Vancovuer in this goalie market. (See post from Nicklas Bo Hunter at 3:21 p.m. today.) I have little doubt Vancouver would grab that in an instant, but have my doubts Buffalo would be as enthusiastic. I really hate proposing or agreeing with proposals that Lack be traded but have considered it extremely likely ever since Miller was signed. 2, The use of that draft pick for a goalie, namely Blackwood. I don't pretend to try to keep up with all the prospective draft picks and can't say whether Blackwood would be the best use of an early 2nd round pick. Goalie success is notoriously hard to predict, so imo it would have to be an exceptional talent to take a goalie with the 31st pick. Blackwood is big and the highest rated North American goalie in this draft, but I don't know enough about him to say whether he'd appear to be a good pick in that spot. YEGCanuck
If Schneider (spelling?) brought us the 9th overall pick, is there any chance Lack can deliver a first round selection in the latter half of the next draft?
DrChill
Not a bad trade value wise as he is USA after this next season. That being said best thing would be to trade miller
shanghai owey
If lack is worth a second round i wouldnt trade him. Whats the problem with having him prove himself more during the season and seeing what the markets like then. ie injuries etc
