It's times like this that I wish there really was a Hell, just so these two lowlifes could spend eternity burning in it  :

A Calgary couple has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Meika Jordan.

Spencer Jordan, Meika's father, and Marie Magoon, her stepmother, were originally charged with first-degree murder.

The trial lasted just over five weeks.

Meika, who was six years old, died of blunt force trauma in November 2011, while in the care of Jordan and Magoon.

During the trial, court heard that Meika was burned, beaten, punched, dragged by her hair and thrown down the stairs over a three-day period leading up to her death.

Magoon's lawyer, Allan Fay, asked the judge to acquit his client because he says she did not cause any of the fatal wounds. It's a strategy both employed, admitting to harming Meika but denying they caused the fatal injuries that killed her.

During an undercover police operation, each confessed to abusing the child.

In her closing statement to the judge, Crown prosecutor Susan Pepper said on Nov. 10, 2011, Magoon held a lighter under Meika's hand causing a third-degree burn. The child was supposed to be returned to her mother the next day but Pepper said the couple knew they'd be in trouble for the burn on Meika's hand so Jordan texted his ex, asking to keep her for an extra day.

Meika died on Nov. 14, 2011, after being taken to hospital by ambulance the day before. Magoon and Jordan initially told first responders she'd fallen down the stairs.

A second-degree murder conviction comes with an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for at least 10 years.

A sentencing hearing with victim impact statements is set for Sept. 18.

It's heartbreaking to think of the suffering that this poor child suffered at the hands of these two POS'. :sadno:

There can be no justice for that child. No matter what is done to these people, it will not be enough. I understand being a defense lawyer can mean you have to defend despicable POS's but I would not defend these two with that defense strategy. That is why Lawyers get a bad reputation.

This is terrible...

Since OP brought up hell, I never want people to rot there and I hope this couple is able to find mercy and forgiveness from God, but if they don't, yeah, they certainly deserve eternal punishment.

Absolutely horrid thing to do.

There should be no parole for these monsters... Should spend the rest of their worthless lives in solitary confinement.

They should spend the rest of their lives in general population - let street justice deliver more than what our courts can.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Don't try to turn this into a thread about religion.

This poor girl is the topic.

Not you and your hocus pocus beliefs about the magic man saving these two monsters.

The fact that these hideous people even get a sniff of parole after 10 years is a disgrace to the justice system.

I'm not a fan of the death penalty, but sometimes it just has to be done.

Why waste tax dollars on keeping these two alive?

Can we briefly legalize torture? Just long enough to inflict every bit of horror that these two monsters inflicted on this poor girl tenfold.

This is one of the most disgusting things I have ever even heard of. There is no justice for this girl.

Sometimes the death penalty is warranted. Like others have said, even the fact that these people have a chance of parole makes me sick. Just kill them and be done with it.

Yeah I agree with you. Why should these two be a allowed to live? Hopefully karma takes care of it.

Life sentence without a chance of parole for 10 years...what a joke.quit calling it a life sentence..these 2 wastes of skin will probably be out in a halfway house in 10 years just like that maniac in Winnipeg who did the Greyhound bus beheading....our justice system is almost as bad as these monsters.
