Las Vegas

Looking for suggestions and/or opinions from people who are experienced in finding good deals for Las Vegas leaving from either Bellingham or Vancouver, or even Seattle.

I'm aware of the mainstream sites such as Hotwire, Expedia, Trivago, etc. but I was just wondering if anyone here knew of another place that might be a little cheaper. I'm sure there's many tips and tricks I'm unaware of, for example, my friend told me about Allegiant from Bellingham which I had no clue about.

Thanks for your help!

Also, for anyone that's been, if there's an event at the pool of the hotel you're staying at, do you get in for free, or do you still have to buy a ticket like people not staying at the hotel would?

I have booked with Aligiant a few times.

Beware the extra fees, the plane ticket costs roughly $65 per way, then if you want to choose a seat it's $15 (if you don't you will be split up from your friends during the trip as you will get a middle seat). You pay for any luggage, wither it's carry on or check in. Also the flight attendants are rude AF..

That being said..

For booking your hotel lasvegas.com is actually the best prices I have ever found. They have constant deals so shop around a bit on there.

Keep in mind there is a "Resort Fee" that is not typically included in the price of $20 per person per day to stay at basically every good Vegas hotel.

Edit: Best pool party is Wet at MGM but it does cost to get in. It's a EDM pool though, you might just catch Calvin Harris or Guetta spinning randomly through the day.

Yeah, Hardwell, Aioki and Tiesto are spinning all on the same weekend at Wet Republic so we were looking at staying at the MGM or The Signature MGM ... or just a cheap hotel on the strip and pay the $30 ticket to get into wet republic anways.

We've used the WestJet site with success. Go to WestJet Vacations and click on deals at the bottom of the page. If you have flexibility in your travel dates the air and hotel packages are excellent.

Unfortunately we've already got the dates picked out so it's basically looking around to see where it's cheapest for that weekend. I checked out that weekend on westjet and it seems to be the same prices as places like expedia and hotwire.

I guess in the Summer everywhere will have the same prices.

If you go to wet republic and plan on actually going in the water then go early, otherwise stay out of it lol.

We stayed in the Signature Towers and our balcony was looking down on the pool, has a nice brownish-yellowish tint to it by the after noon from all the piss/sweat/spilled drinks in it. Pretty gross to be honest

Allegiant is by far your best bet for cheapest flights. It's literally the worst airline in North America, but for a quicky down to Vegas, it's worth it I suppose. Like mentioned earlier, the extra fees are effing ridiculous (paying for a carry-on???).

MGM is a great hotel and casino if that's where you're planning on staying. That whole corner is pretty sweet with NY/NY across the street.

As far as peelers go for late night, defs find the limo guys that charge $20 per person for the limo ride there and back which includes cover and your first two "drinks", which means quadruples to start (to get you hammed as eff).

Have fun, dude. Wear Pats stuff. Represent!

I bet they only fill the pool half full of clean water and by the end of the day it's full. Barf.

With Allegiant the fee is only paid on larger carry-ons or if your gullible. They give you a million warnings that you need to pay for carry ons but they dont check this at the door so I take a smallish bag and a mid sized backpack and dont get any hassles. From Bellingham its the cheapest direct flight to Vegas usually unless you find some insane deal somewhere. Alaskan is a much nicer way to fly direct from Bellingham but for a few hours of very minor discomfort each way Ill put up with it for the savings. The newer seats with the hollow backs now added a lot of legroom Allegiant didnt used to have.

Go to the M life site and look into Myvegasrewards for the process of getting free rooms at M life hotels on the regular. MGM Grand, Excaliber, Luxor, New York new York etc. I havent paid for a room on 3 night trips in years.

Haha funny you mention that Ari! My buddy was at the MGM a few years ago, and met Calvin Harris before he was a big namer! :P

Allegiant for sure for the trip down, using their website and booking a hotel package is usually competitive enough with the prices on other sites to make it worthwhile to just do that way.

DO NOT fall for the $10 shuttle trick on plane booking sites, if you have 2-4 people a cab is not only cheaper, but faster too. Shuttles take forever as they stop at all hotels that they need to empty it.

Cheap and good hotel = Flamingo... center of the strip and they just re-did most of their rooms. Good(ish) pool as well.

Also, google the $20 trick. I have done it countless times, almost all have worked. The one time it didn't, I got the $20 back.

The best deals I've gotten involve booking the plane flight separately directly through the airline (allegiant) and then booking a suite that accommodates 4+ people. You can usually get suits for around $150 a night if you look at places like Bookit.com

why people complain so much about Allegiant Air?

they´re supposed to be a low-cost airline so don´t think you gonna have full service. if you want low prices you have to understand that doesn´t come for free.

it´s the Ryanair from USA. don´t ask for a premium United service when you´re paying 60 or less bucks for a 3 hour flight

Thanks for the replies and for your suggestions. I checked out everything you guys suggested and found that the cheapest price for a hotel+flight package ended up being on www.vegas.com lol

Great suggestion. Unfortunately for our dates, booking flight and hotel separately ended up being a couple hundred bucks more than a package together, but for other dates it was a couple hundred cheaper.

Yeah, we'll probably go to the pool right at 11, and once it begins filling up with fist pumping guidos, we'll come out and enjoy it more like a club and stay out of the water. We plan on using actual hotel pools (each tower of the signature MGM has its own pool) for most of the trip.

So we ended up booking it for the BC day long weekend.

3 nights (Saturday, Sunday, Monday), 4 basically full days (Get into Vegas at noon saturday, don't depart Vegas until 10pm Tuesday)

Staying at the MGM Grand condos

$560 per person including taxes, fees, and roundtrip flights out of YVR.

Edit: 560 canadian, it was like $435 USD

There's going to be $22 per day hotel fees that we don't pay until we go, but I've heard you can often get it waived. If not, I'll probably end up winning back the amount of the fee anyways. :P

What do you experienced travellers think? Good value for what we're getting for the time of year?

FREMONT STREET

Seriously. We had more fun on Fremont than the strip. 5 blocks covered by a giant tv blaring music and light shows. Stages with live music/DJs every day and night. Giant outside bars with dancing ladies on them.

And awesome casinos all the way down.

Also, try the heart attack grill. Great burgers and a really fun place to be.
