Nuxfanabroad
Read over on HFBoards that a few teams are trying to swoop in & nab Arizona's #3 OA pick. Remember hearing Boston REALLY wants Hanifin, the local boy. They've also got the cash crunch in cap. Dougie Hamilton +(? a pick ?) for #3? Perhaps then Az flips OEL for a monster package? I'm guessing lots of younger stars don't want to remain in the desert, spinning wheels(ala Turris). So occasionally Az flips young talent, as per this deal. Any predictions today? Which team is going to jump up highest, this draft? I'm guessing TBay will acquire a top-6 OA selection. edit-changed title
thejazz97
Can I just say, I can really see "Hanifin" on a Canucks jersey? There. I've said it. BOS would likely need to trade Hamilton, Pastrnak, and their 1st for ARZ's 1st. (And maybe Craig Cunningham )
Nuxfanabroad
Jazz, a poster has suggested Edler, Shink & our 1st. Interesting offer was CBJ, with their #8, #34, & #38 picks(they've got extra 2nd's) & Rychel or Anisimov? The Jackets will be a dangerous beast, very soon. I do that deal all day long if I'm Arizona
thejazz97
Counter-proposal: Arizona, Carolina, and Boston all do magical chairs with their picks. BOS gets 3rd, ARZ gets 5th, and CAR gets 14th.

BOS would likely need to trade Hamilton, Pastrnak, and their 1st for ARZ's 1st. (And maybe Craig Cunningham) LOL Boston would pretty much shoot themselves in the foot if they did that deal, they need a #1 D-man to replace aging Chara (Dougie is probably ready in the near future, but who knows about Noah?), and cost-controlled impact players. They've only got 10 forwards and 4 defenders, plus one goalie signed, and $11 million in space (Dougie isn't signed, and they have to sign Connolly). If I'm Arizona though, I'd make off like a bandit with that. Ekman-Larsson AND Hamilton on the back end, then add Domi, Duclair, Pastrnak, Rieder and get another top young center with that mix of talent and that's a decent foundation. EDIT: if in the OP it talks about flipping OEL, maybe trade him to Colorado for one of the top young centers?
Mr.Plow
Why would Boston trade Hamilton? He's going to be a top pairing defense-men and is more NHL ready then Hannifan.
Nuxfanabroad
A few reasons, Plow-san. A.. They've stated they LOVE this local kid. b..Take a look at their cap scenario. Someone could offer-sheet Dougie, it's been speculated. Hanifin's ELC would fit them like a glove. C.. Maybe Hamilton's overrated? Showed pretty shoddy positioning, when I saw Beantown in Van, this Feb.
elvis15
Not sure on the Hamilton for Hanfin swap, but I'm pretty sure Arizona is looking to add salary not dump it. Hamilton could help with that a little on the Coyotes' end, but they need to keep OEL's cap and add more still just to get around the floor. Nuxfanabroad
^Elvis, Easily rectified by scoring a few fwds, in dealing OEL. They could demand youth, size & speed in spades, for that guy.
Standing_Tall#37
Edler+Vrbata+2015 1st+ 2 of McCann/Shink/Gaunce/Cassels/Fox/Jensen For the 3rd overall Hey!, you'll never win the cup without a franchise D and our old-core has proven they're not winners, so lets build for the future. Standing_Tall#37
^Man, that's pricey. :^( In reality you don't get a franchise cornerstone for free. Most proposals here seem to have the basis that other franchises are trying to help Vancouver out. In all reality there would be lots of offers should the Hannifin pick be available. We're not gonna get him for Jensen, Shink and our 1st... There'd have to be benefits for now and later. Not just a handful of prospects or players that haven't worked out for us so far. Nuxfanabroad
Yeah ST..your value is probably realistic. Don't think I could pay that for an 18yo D-man. Perhaps for an OEL or Seth Jones?

I'm not sold on jones just yet. He's looked good in the show so far but every time I watched him in jr he seemed kind of lazy. I think oel is good but tops off as a #2 maybe 3 on some teams. A couple guys I would look at are Barrie in Colorado and Pietrangelo in St. Louis.
Hockey Stache
Whoa!!!! Standing Tall!!! You're not sold on Jones and OEL tops out as a #2 or #3????? But you are willing to give up a crazy package like that for an unproven 18 year old kid that hasn't even been drafted yet. Not sure about any of that logic. To be honest, the Canucks have nothing short of Horvat & Virtanen that will get us that #3 pick and Benning would be stupid nuts to do a trade like that. Also pretty sure that Boston will find other ways to alleviate their cap then trade away a future #1 in Hamilton.
Seven pounds soft
Why would Boston trade Hamilton? He's going to be a top pairing defense-men and is more NHL ready then Hannifan. This ^ Can't believe it took until comment 7 for someone to bring this up. Hamilton has more value than the 3OA and is probably untouchable. Ryan Strome
Not a chance Boston trades DH for the 3rd overall. That is pretty much a step back and honestly it's a bad deal for Boston. Boston can fix there cap problems via other means rather then trading a future noris trophy winner. Sure they may get a great dman back but they may not either. Certainly the trade discussions would never start with DH and discussions would likely end if his name came up.

Not so easy when you're a team at the bottom. Hard to attract free agents and still try and build a reasonable team unless you just throw money at anyone who comes asking. They won't be moving OEL because of that cap situation, especially after already having moved Yandle.
