thejazz97
This guy gets so much undeserved hate dislike on here it's not even funny. I mean, yeah, he really needs to work on his game. And yeah, he constantly looks like someone ran over his dog five minutes ago. But the guy's stat line is so underrated: In 75 games played, he had 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points. As a rookie, that's not half-bad. Granted, he was -3, but still - he's a young gun and he's still at the point where he can work on his game and become a decent bottom 9 player. Also, he was one point behind Horvat (25) at the end of the season. He was 35th in the league in Shooting % and only had 18 PIMs. Heck, the guy played for a midget (or whatever's the one below junior) team called Beardy's Blackhawks. And he's been averaging around a point-per-game in the last two seasons he's played in the AHL. And for a 4th round draft pick, that ain't half bad. Let's show the guy some love, shall we? Beside the sarcastic comments that are bound to be posted I know. It's just that people are only looking at his flaws, instead of the good he's done or the potential he has. BanTSN
It's probably just me and you talking at the moment, but getting Vey was a mistake. Should be interesting to see what his RFA demands are, considering the... Great rookie season... He just had.
Crackers
Poor guy. I never disliked him as much as the masses seemed to, but I think his skillset is a bit redundant on this team. He is a skilled player, but we have a number of more skilled players, and Vey doesn't have a multi-faceted enough game to help out in any way besides scoring. I would like to see him do well, but on another team.
Winter Soldier
I like Vey, raw around the edges but I like what he brings now and hopefully in the future. Youth movement only applies if it's Mckeown, apparently.

HC20.0
I like Vey. He did half a poor second half of the year, sure, but people forget that it's only hos rookie season. I thought he played pretty decently actually. Bet he's gonna work hard this summer too, so I'm excited for the kid!
Gstank29
Patience, let's wait and see what we have. NO HE'S A BUST If he can put up 40-50 points i'll be happy

Spotted Zebra
He has excellent vision, he really needs to figure out what he's going to do do to be successful in this league though. He's not overly fast and he's not overly physical, the one thing he can do very well is be creative and dish the puck well. Even though he's a centreman, he will Never be the straw that stirs the drink, not saying he won't be effective, but he needs to be surrounded by big wingers with top 6 abilities to be succesful. Unfortunately something we are lacking
JC2
I like Vey, but I just don't know where exactly he fits in on this team. I think the fact he doesn't have a set role yet might just be the advantage of having him, as crazy as it seems. With the emergence of Horvat and still the likes of Bonino and Henrik sedin there's really no panic for him to be an impact player which means he can be developed properly at the NHL level. He can be inserted into the lineup when injuries occur or if, depending on the opponent, they need more skill in the lineup. The last thing you want is to rely upon a rookie who isn't ready so at least Vey has time to grow and figure out his role. Let's just hope he makes a name for himself sooner rather then later. LeanBeef
Dont mind him at all, he looked great when playing in the bottom six and on the powerplay. There are times when I didn't understand why WD put him in the top six but that's on him.

Unfortunately something we are lacking Yeah I dont really see him being a good center position. But hard to judge a player after seeing him in one pro season (cough cough Sbisa ). A good summer of training and an adjusted mindset for the next season he may find a good spot along side some Horvat / Bonino, or maybe on the 4th line center position but he's got to get better in the faceoff circle
hd71
I like Vey, and I support him. I think he can have a bright future. His stats for a rookie are nothing to shake a stick at, and his skill level will become more consistent. He knows how to score, knows how to create, it's putting it together with strength for a full NHL season. Guys with skill need to be given opportunities to show it, with talented players, and so because of his waiver situation he couldn't be sent down and that put him in a weird place in the lineup scheme too. I predict in a couple years, he could be a 50 point guy. Higgins and Bonino played with Vrbata for a good chunk of the year and didn't even hit 40. A stat I noticed, he finished 17th in rookie scoring last season, but he finished 83 amongst all rookies in TOI/GP and 34rth amongst rookie forwards. (* not all rookes with more TOI/GP played as many games so the numbers are not a hard number but a general relevance point)
smithers joe
he needs to get stronger but he has proved that in every league he has been in the has got better every year...maybe he should have some time in utica but he has potential to fill a role... Canorth
At 50th in 2014, McKeown was a good pick. Until the experts who actually do the picking didn't pick him, and the experts who did, used him as a throw-in for a rental 9 months later. Edit: not crapping on the kid. No he was still a good pick. LA is in win now mode, so they deemed him expendable. They wouldn't have been able to trade Vey do the same return at the deadline, that's for sure.
