(Proposal) - Realistic Trades and Signings to make team better now and in future.

Recommended Posts

First Trade:

Lack, Kassian, Gaunce to Edm for 16th and 3rd round pick

Why Edmonton does this: They have more skill than imaginable at the moment with the likes of Connor Mcdavid heading there way. Mcdavid, hall, eberle, Nuge are not all big guys that can stick up for themselves. Adding Kassian to the mix to play with these skilled players will give them intimidation and toughness on the wing to help protect their young talent who playing with these supreme set up players could actually perform well as a top 6 winger. Lack is 27, younger than other ufa goalies out there and better than there current goalies. Edmonton has to turn around things asap and start doing what is necessary to to create a winning environment for their players and prospects. Gaunce would serve as a grit bottom 6 forward, able to do the little things right and serve valuable.

Second Trade:

Bieska for highest pick possible

Love the guy but his cap hit is too high for his production and his age, and can be a too big of a liability in the playoffs whereas Hamhuis is still a top 4 defenceman.

Either combine picks to move up (23rd and 16) or keep them. - Prob keep them

Draft Dmen and or if top forward is still available.

Would be nice if Werenski fell to 16th.

Try to sign Frolik, Stewart, Franson, McQuaid while offloading appropriate contracts (Burrows, Higgins, Not resigning Matthias, mabe Sbisa)

Daniel-Hank-Vrbata

Frolik-Bonino-Stewart

Baertschi-Horvat-Hansen

Dorsett-vey(or Richardson)-Kennins

Edler-Tanev

Hamhuis-Franson

McQuaid-Weber (or Sbisa)

*If can't sign one of Stewart or Frolik keep Burrows on the second line with them.

*This lineup gets them younger, Second line more dangerous, More physicallity, and likely faster.

*Each second line player is capable of scoring 20 goals.

*Franson BC boy, 6'5, can be offensive, and dynamite on powerplay.

*For Free agents Vancouver has an edge being a great city with great hockey market

*Mcquaid and Stewart are both Forces on the ice and able to stand up for teammates, making Canucks tougher to play against. Imagine first round against Calgary with these 2 players.

*Frolik offensively creative and played I believe on top line with Scheifle in Winnipeg, can play both left and right wing.

*Can try mixing Stewart with Sedins.

*Don't see a weakness in any of our lines including McQuaid and Weber who could be a great ying and yang Duo together.

*Horvat Hansen and Baertschi I think would also be a great up-tempo line together, capable of shutting down and scoring.

*Second Powerplay Unit also likely now to perform better.

I would not even consider giving that package for a mid first round pick. Lack alone should be worth close to there. Mid-first round picks, although good assets, are still a shot in the dark in terms of becoming a good NHL player and we give up three decent assets including a goalie entering his prime for it. No thanks

"realistic"

Bieksa for highest pick possible is not a trade. It's an opinion

Lack Kassian and Gaunce for a measly mid 1st and an early 3rd is an insult.

All agree Lack can garner a mid to high 2nd and if Lehner is truly worth the top 6 possible player rumoured some team has offered lack alone is then worth a low 1st. Gaunce is a potential top 9 C/LW, Kassian is a possible top 9 RW

"Realistic"

I must admit I would love to see McQuaid on the back end

Sure those signings would be great, but that would mean some big changes to our current roster to make room. Plus it takes away roster spots from guys in our system. I admit McQuaid would be a nice addition on the end if only to add some toughness and we would have to over pay to get all of those players. And these changes do not make us a contender. So I don't see the point of making change, just for the sake of change.

Does this mean we get a do-over and can unsign Sbisa? Or does it mean we somehow manage to unload that contract without taking a bad contract back?

There aren't many specifics to this proposal-it is more like a what the o.p. would like to see happen. When one has a lineup with no bench and assuming all the free agents targeted choose to sign with the Canucks, it gets a bit far-fetched.
