Dr Green Lawn
New Jersey needs top 6 wingers in the worst way and have been rumoured to be shopping Eric Gelinas. To Devils Zack Kassian To Vancouver Eric Gelinas Good old school hockey trade for 2 high potential players who both have had struggles early in their careers. thejazz97
Only if we get rid of Hamhuis and Sbisa or Bieksa. We have Clendening and Corrado who have to go through waivers. Edler/Tanev is a given. Weber will probably be resigned. Then there's the forgotten child in Ryan Stanton. I like the deal, but we have other things to get through first. Baer.
I'd do it but I feel like there would need to be pieces added, as we would have many NHL calibre defencemen, like Jazz explained.

We can move them in other deals. D-men aren't too hard to trade (except for the ones with NTCs).
stuman491
I'm not very familiar with Gelinas. Looking at his stats he has never been a plus player (even in Junior). Are we interested in him for his offense or size?

Are we interested in him for his offense or size?Probably played on a bad junior team and was put against the tough competition and relied on a lot in key situations. In the NHL he's played for NJD who aren't exactly known for their scoring....which is why +/- is a useless stat and should never be used to calculate talent. Blömqvist
I'm not very familiar with Gelinas. Looking at his stats he has never been a plus player (even in Junior). Are we interested in him for his offense or size? I think he would be a great addition to the defense. I was thinking of proposing a similar trade too haha! I would like to keep Kassian though.. As per Hockey's Future: "Gelinas is blessed with a tantalizing size/skill combination. There is still a little bit of rawness to his game, much of which can be traced to the fact that he is a converted forward. A strong skating, mobile defenseman, Gelinas loves to lead the rush up the ice and involve himself in the play offensively. He also has a bomb of a slap-shot. His defense and physical play is still a work in progress, but after his first pro season, he showed significant improvement in both of those areas." SaintPatrick33
Does Kassian have serious back issues? This may make him expendable, but after the flashes he showed last season with the Sedins I really think he can be an impact player for us. Gelinas is supposed to have good skill and able to score, I dont know this seems like a solid hockey trade, good proposal, although I am a big kass fan
Dr Green Lawn
Might have to wait and see if Virtanen and Grenier are ready for the NHL first. That would make Kassian expendable imo.
goblix
I'd rather target Larsson, he's had a couple of rough years in the NHL but most d-man can't step in immediately, RHD offensive style, big and agile. He's the kind of guy we are looking for. He's also Swedish so the chemistry from Edler - Larsson will be immediate!!

Unfortunately, at times (with the scratches last season) it seems management may have already deemed Zack expendable. That being said, if Luca's moved and Zack's physicality and skill are replaced (by Jake/ Grenier/ other signings/ acquisitions) then I'd gladly do this deal and I think Jersey would too

He finally broke out last season and showed his true potential.
