Elder Scrolls Online - PS4 / XB1

The latest offering from the Elder Scrolls franchise was released on PS4 & XB1 yesterday - Elder Scrolls Online, or ESO for short. The PC version has been out for a long time so it will be interesting to see what the take up is for the console versions.

An introductory gameplay video for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsjKxbR_yUY

Who here purchased the game - and on which platform? If you're looking for questing partners, guild members or just someone to chat to about the game, post here and we'll sort you out :)

I'm on XB1, gamertag AzzyMahmood - look me up on the European server.

Not to my knowledge - your only option from the homescreen is to choose your region, which launches you into the MMO world.

Ah alright. I liked Skyrim, but I haven't had live in almost or over a year, so it may be wise for me not to get this rn. Thanks tho

You'll be waiting a long time, Fallout 4 in 2017 is their focus. So 2018 at the earliest.

Fallout 4 is rumoured to have a 2015 release.

We will probably here about PS5 and Xbox whatever by then (or strong rumours) since they're both pretty underpowered. I don't see them lasting more than 5 years.

I'm banking on a 2016 release at latest for Fallout 4 and hoping the 2015 rumours are true. I'd bet their already working on ES VI. I'm dreaming for a 2016 release of it, but 2017 is more realistic.

I've already come across a quest too advanced for my lowly level (3) - I need a questing pal or three to take out some ruddy assassins...

Having logged approx. 75 real-time years on Skyrim, I can't believe they ruined it by making ESO an MMO. I genuinely HATE people online after years and years of listening to squeaker E-thugs spout off since the original Halo. I flat out refuse to play MMO games.

I'm sure I'll last about 2-3 weeks before caving in and buying it. I'll let you know what I think then...

I can't wait for Fallout 4.

Quite the vibrant community online so far, spent 3 hours playing last night and came across close to a thousand players I reckon, all running about on quests and chatting. It has the feel of Skyrim but yet feels completely different. Combat is very good as well, much more efficient than Skyrim.

I played the PC beta too, and didn't enjoy it. However so far the console setup has worked well. It helps that it's a polished game not a mostly-broken mess like the PC beta.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've been playing the Elder Scrolls series since Morrowind so this is great. My only complaint is that when I play I take my time and craft items and don't rush through the story. My guild / friends are all mad at me because I don't play the quests with them. I'm always saying I have to dump my inventory because it's full. I also have 4 characters, 2 of them are mules for items for skills I haven't upgraded yet.

My first character is level 40 in Provisioning and I sank skill points into it so I make 4 of every item.

I enjoyed ESO on my PC. If youre looking for a skyrim experience, this isnt it. Its an MMO first and an ES game second. If you can hack that, then youll enjoy the game. I think it has cool advancement trees and professions, it looks good and most of the quests are at least mildly amusing. So yeah, I personally like it. Its not like blow your mind great or anything, but it can eat a few hours no problem!

Haven't come across him yet but I ran into M'aiq the Liar randomly. One of my buddies said he is part of a questline.

Yeah I figured M'aiq would be there.

Honestly, I have like zero interest in ESO, just waiting for the single player follow-up to Skyrim.
