We're back for the 2nd annual CDC Draft Rankings!

General Information

As per normal, the vote will be specific to the team drafting in that slot, you will have 10 players to choose from in the vote

(starting with the top 10 players ranked in the ISS Top 30 draft eligible players) . Make your choice not only by skill, but by team needs as well. Every couple of days I will create a new thread with the results of the vote, and a new vote for the next team. I will also post information about the next 5 players in the ISS top 30. Below the team's logo, you can click to see their current prospects over at Hockey's Future to have more organizational insight. Enjoy and make sure to come back for each vote!

(Remember that you're voting for what team will pick who in their position. Not just what team should draft what player.)

Congratulations to Travis Konecny and Evgeni Svechnikov for being selected 14th and 15th overall respectively by the Boston Bruins and the Calgary Flames!

Who will the Edmonton Oilers and the Winnipeg Jets draft 16th and 17th overall respectively?

A big-bodied power forward that plays with tenacity and an edge. Relentless on the forecheck and is able to bully his way to the net with his size and speed. Has a good stick around the net and has an accurate rocket of a shot. Thinks the game well and is able to frustrate opposing players while playing physically. All-in-all, an impact player that uses his size and skill to his advantage. Gaining consistency will be integral to his future success. Source

PvH1Pqs.jpgA prolific scoring threat, Colin White is a strong 3-zone player with an eye for scoring chances. Thinks the game at a high level and always seeks to make an impact on the ice, with or without the puck. Never seems to be outbodied and is an exceptional skater. Puck-possession is definitely a strength. All-in-all, a skilled, 200-foot player that does all of the little things right and is able to make a large impact on the game and its outcome. Source

A quick-thinking two-way defenseman that is able to make fast decisions and help his team whenever he is on the ice. Possesses excellent mobility and has good individual puck skills; can catch the opposition off guard with his speed. All-in-all, a player who strives to be better with every shift, staying a student of the game. Has the potential to flourish into a very reliable all-around defenseman that can eat up minutes. Source

A playmaking center that has an excellent eye for the game; sees the ice like a hawk from above. Creates scoring chances and on-ice energy through taking advantage of puck-possession and making the most of turnovers. Incredible work ethic; will battle against larger players and isn't afraid to do the dirty work in front of the net. Does not possess the largest frame or a dynamic level of skating; however, he does boast a remarkably high level of Hockey-IQ and a deep understanding of the game. There is something left to be desired having observed his individual skills, such as puckhandling, footspeed, and decision-making, for a prolonged period of time; there is definitely room for improvement in the small areas of his game. All-in-all, Merkley brings a medley of skill, smarts, and work ethic to the table, making him an invaluable asset as a Center. Source

878hkGN.jpg

A very competitive center who uses his size, skill, and skating to power to the net and create scoring chances. Possesses an elite-level shot, great vision, and slick puckhandling skills; as a result, it's no surprise that he has a natural knack for scoring big goals. Offensive catalyst, but also defensively responsible. Plays a creative, 200-foot game. All-in-all, an intelligent, scoring center that is productive at both ends of the ice. Source

Carlo. Big, physical defensive defence man who fits what the Oiler need, size and a physical presence. His offence is unrated IMO and he projects to be a sure bet to make the NHL. His upside is a Top 4 (maybe top pairing) defence man who will be feared by teams around the league and if the offensive comes around a top pairing minute cruncher who can produce offensively

Bittner Winnipeg is the perfect place for a player like Bittner to play and develop with Ladd and Wheeler both being the same type of player Bittner is projected to be

I just want to state how much I loathe doing two positions at the same time - if you need to, do it with one poll so the winner gets 16th and the second placed gets 17th. Otherwise players are missing out on both positions. Like Zboril looks likely to do.

The point of this mock is to draft for each team's need so if CDC were to want Zboril to be drafted to one of these teams he would have more votes for that specific team than another player.

Chabot

Bittner - Jets have a plethora of young centres.

Petan...?

Not including Scheifle they really don't have any center in the system. Most have graduated or moved on.

After Petan and Copp(4th rounder) they really have no centers in their depth chart.

So they don't have a plethora. I think Merkley is the wrong choice though.

If I were jets and I wanted a center, I would go with Eriksson-Ek. Strong two way guy could be their shutdown #2. Not quite a number 1 center but a good #2. And his 3-zone play is actually quite rounded from what I heard.

The Jets are set down the middle for the foreseeable future. With Little, Scheifele, Lowry, Copp, and Petan, the Jets are set for quite a while. Right now, the Jets need wingers, specifically right wingers.

Which is why I voted Guryanov ;)

not quite, because you might think zboril should go 15th and select chabot at 16th, assuming zboril wins. Then you find zboril gets neither spot, as looks possible in this poll - when youd have voted him in both if they were done at the same time.

I can just see players slipping when they ought not is all.

Luckily someone else explained it for me. I wasn't talking specifically rookies.

Then why does it matter? Just because they have 5 NHL centers doesn't mean anything. We have 8 NHL ready defensemen yet the consensus this year is we should draft a defenseman.

Interesting outlook. I recommend voting for Zboril in both polls in that case. If he ended up leading both, then the 2nd poll would be won by the 2nd highest vote, right?

Their centres are young, our top end defencemen are pushing 30-35. Different situation.
