The Best Thing Ever(non-trade situation, nor on-ice play)...

...to ever happen to this franchise? That wouldn't include trades(invites endless debate), nor on-ice exploits(the 'save', Burr/Bure goals, etc...) we all KNOW that stuff...

Quick List:

1-Drafting Trev(set the standard, & would eventually become Pres)

2- Roger put a towel on a stick, & lifted it(symbolism that resonates more than ever, today)

3-Drafting Bure

4- The Big Irishman came back to town

5-Setting up shop in Utica

So what's yours?..

What you mentioned and...

1) Torts charging in the the Flames dressing room

^not an on ice play :P which led to this:

2) Drafting Patrick White

It led to Dave Nonis being fired which led to Gillis being fired. Gillis then traded White for Ehrhoff who was a huge part of one of the best seasons in Canucks history. Gillis also persuaded the Aquilini's to buy a farm team in Utica and move the baby Canucks there. Look at what they are doing there now.

When the camera caught Kay Whitmore eating a hot dog before the game was over and having mustard all over his face.

It was back in the time when backup goalies sat in the zamboni tunnel right behind the net because there wasn't room for them on the bench/

Kay realized he had been totally busted (there was only like 5 minutes left in the game) and smiled sheepishly to the camera. Everyone in the broadcast booth bust a gut and could hardly continue calling the game.

Close call between drafting Linden and Bure. I would have to say drafting Bure in terms of on-ice product. I mean prior to this, the canucks have never ever had a true superstar. Bure was the first canuck to pot multiple 50 goal seasons, win the calder, and was one of the most exciting talent rich players in NHL HISTORY. These players come along once in a blue moon, and to have been able to witness his speed and skill it was just a treasure to watch. For once, we had drafted and molded a true superstar, somebody who could change the game in an instant. God bless Quinn for making this move.

Recent: "Campoli tried to clear it- Burrows shoots, SCOOOOOOORRRRREEEEESSS!" Saved the franchise from becoming a laughing stock again and saved the jobs of many people after we blew a 3-0 series lead. Seriously, if not for that goal, this team would look drastically different.

All time: Bringing in Quinn and drafting Bure and Linden. The Canucks were the biggest laughing stock in the league for the first 20 years of their existence. We were lucky if we were mediocre in a season. We STUNK. The Canucks were losing on ice, and money off ice, and relocation rumours were abundant. Pat Quinn came in when the Canucks were basically on their last legs and turned this franchise around from the laughing stock we were. Drafting Linden and Bure, and good hockey trades made Vancouver start winning, and we started becoming respected. People started attending games again, and the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals run for the first time in history, brought the city of Vancouver and the province of BC together in sports. A fan base started and expanded more over the years. Quinn steered this ship himself, and Linden and Bure gave the Canucks star players for the first time ever. Those three men saved this team, and turned us from the worst franchise in the league to one of the most financially successful. All we're missing is a Stanley Cup, but with Linden back at the helm, I've no doubt we'll see one eventually. :)

Some people die of immediate heart failure when an earthquake suddenly, unexpectedly occurs. We should assume the same reaction, if Van ever delivered the goods..even up 3~bagel in the finals...

If Vancouver won in 1994 or 2011, I would have been able to die in peace and true happiness. Now I must suffer the rest of my agonizing life in misery, as my lifetime will not be long enough before I see another Canucks team that will challenge for the cup :(

That is unless Horvat and Virtanen become a version of Toews and Kane :)
