Really? I thought this would be right up your alley ::D

Good point. It took the Sabres just over 1 season to do something similar.

The Canucks are more of a core-rebuild team rather than a nuke the whole organization and start again type team.

I'd love to see the older parts of the core get traded for NHL ready youth. I could only imagine how many prospects that the twins would bring in if they were traded as a set to a Stanley Cup contending team. I'm sure that it would be sad for many Canucks fans though.

Here we go 'round the Milbury-bush...

I actually googled for pictures of Mike Milbury laughing to add to this since I thought it was funny, but I couldn't find any. At best, I found a couple of him sort of smiling.

And after the offer sheet to hamilton and we give them the first overall pick in 2016

Depends on how much we offer, but it'd be starting with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd from next year (between $5.4M and $7.3M), and we don't have our 3rd. But Boston might match that so it'd have to be above $7.3M and the compensation for that is two 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd (again which we don't have).

We could always offer the $9.1M+ range, which is four 1sts in compensation, but that's insane. Maybe we could get our 3rd back from the Islanders but even then this whole proposal is pretty fantastical and we would be pretty close to not only the 1st overall in 2016, but also potentially 2017.

Don't get me wrong, if we could snowball a couple of pieces into getting a couple of top 5-10 picks this year, I think we could set ourselves up very well with some great picks (Hanafin and Provorov?). That'll cost way to much though, so I won't hold my breath on even getting one pick in the first half of the draft.

We're not trading vrbata away. Arizona got a 1st and a good prospect for Vermette. Vrbata is a 30 goal scorer and if he repeats next year what he did this season. His value for a playoff team is much higher than his value at this years draft. We'd most likely get a first and an A prospect for him at the deadline than just a prospect or 2nd round draft pick at the draft.

Gotta make the right moves, not the ones that impress the fans.
