Salter
We're back for the 2nd annual CDC Draft Rankings! General Information As per normal, the vote will be specific to the team drafting in that slot, you will have 10 players to choose from in the vote (starting with the top 10 players ranked in the ISS Top 30 draft eligible players) . Make your choice not only by skill, but by team needs as well. Every couple of days I will create a new thread with the results of the vote, and a new vote for the next team. I will also post information about the next 5 players in the ISS top 30. Below the team's logo, you can click to see their current prospects over at Hockey's Future to have more organizational insight. Enjoy and make sure to come back for each vote! (Remember that you're voting for what team will pick who in their position. Not just what team should draft what player.) Congratulations to Nick Merkley and Jakub Zboril for being selected 20th and 21st overall respectively by the Minnesota Wild and the Buffalo Sabres! Who will the Washington Capitals select 22nd overall respectively? Current Capitals Prospects According to the ISS Rankings, these are the next top 5 draft eligible players. A very competitive center who uses his size, skill, and skating to power to the net and create scoring chances. Possesses an elite-level shot, great vision, and slick puckhandling skills; as a result, it's no surprise that he has a natural knack for scoring big goals. Offensive catalyst, but also defensively responsible. Plays a creative, 200-foot game. All-in-all, an intelligent, scoring center that is productive at both ends of the ice. Source Brandon Carlo is an industrious, shift-by-shift defenceman who lets the game come to him rather than chasing the play; he is able to quickly adapt to the pace of the game on the fly. Through maneuvering his way around the ice and making high-percentage, skilled decisions in all three zones, he is able to shut opposition offense down before it begins to take shape. Carlo is a smooth skater who can control the puck very well and get into open areas for scoring chances; that being said, he does and will need help finding offense due to his natural defensive style of play. All-in-all, a towering, defensive d-man that has very few holes in his game and is physically ready to make the next step. Source JÉRÉMY ROY Age: 18 Birthplace: Longueuil, QC,CAN Position: Defence Height: 6'0 Weight: 187 lbs Current League: QMJHL: Sherbrooke Phoenix Player Info: Jeremy Roy is a gifted two-way defenceman that establishes his presence on the ice through playing authoritative hockey, with and without the puck. His absolute and total awareness of other players' positions on the ice is a testament to his incredible knowledge of the game. Roy possesses the intangibles of maturity and character that can't be taught, as well as the individual skill that turns heads every time he is on the ice. All-in-all, a highly intelligent defenceman that plays high-percentage hockey and is a catalyst for positive plays in all three zones. When talking to scouts about Jeremy Roy, the name Duncan Keith often shows up in the same sentence; the offensive and defensive traits embodied by the Chicago Blackhawks star defenseman seem to be akin to what the young Roy aspires to. Source DENIS GURYANOV Age: 18 Birthplace: Togliatti, RUS Position: Rightwing/Leftwing Height: 6'2 Weight: 187 lbs Current League: KHL: Lada Togliatti Player Info: A highly skilled forward who intimidates with his speed and proficient puckhandling ability, Denis Guryanov may have one of the highest ceilings as a forward prospect for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Very strong on his skates and uses his size to protect the puck well. Drives the net hard and knows where he will shoot before he is even in a position to do so. Possesses a heavy and accurate release on his shot, which he likes to get off near the faceoff dots; if he can't shoot from there, he will either dangle or bull his way through to the blue paint. While he is proactive and aware defensively, he still needs to work on consistency in his own end. All-in-all, a dynamic offensive threat that has room to grow defensively. Source DANIEL SPRONG Age: 18 Birthplace: Amsterdam, NED Position: Rightwing Height: 6'0 Weight: 183 lbs Current League: QMJHL: Charlottetown Checkers Player Info: A prolific scoring winger who possesses an elite-level skillset: has dynamic skating ability, is a creative passer, and has incredible puckhandling ability. While he is offensively dominant, he is also defensively responsible. A very hard working player who strives to improve all aspects of his game. Absolutely electric. Source Draft Order 1.
