[Report] Bieksa will only waive NTC if new team offers contract extension

Recommended Posts

Bieksa at a new 34 has trade value. He's tough, kills penalties and can be a PP option. Guy logs 20minutes plus and would look good with a #1 dman next to him, Dmen like that are a rarity and don't become available too often. I would think Bieksa would have trade value of at least a high pick and a good propect or younger guy coming back. If you can't get that I would keep him. Cap hit is reasonable and he can be traded at the deadline too where values are always pumped up.

Cap will need to be managed but there are other options (Higgins/Hansen/Burrows).

It's going to suck if he gets traded but that's the way it goes sometimes. He's known for having his best season in contract years so wouldn't it make more sense to let him play and trade him at the deadline with hopefully a higher value? His value couldn't get any lower now

Suitors lining up for Bieksa

http://www.tsn.ca/video/suitors-lining-up-for-lucic-bieksa-1.312257

Video Overview

- Bieksa has value that teams will pay for.

- teams would love to add that right handed dman who can kill penalties, play on the powerplay, and play tough; pretty much play in all situations.

- "all encompassing #2 that can fit perfectly with a #1."

- Bieksa is prime aged and if the time is up in Vancouver and the team truly wants to move on, give Bieksa a shot to win elsewhere as there are a handful of teams who would love him.

- Canucks have not approached Bieksa to waive NTC but word is if he were to be traded, it'd be at his discretion that the other team have an extension ready for him.

...well there you have it, added fuel to the fire. Absolutely love draft week and free agency lol. Love Juice. He's the absolute warrior that deserves the Cup. It won't be here in his playing time left and his play has dropped off considerably. TSN praising him quite a bit even though he had his worst year ever last season. Think you can sense teams will pay the price for a righty shot defensemen who can do a bit of everything, a veteran, and can play just about anywhere if matched correctly...they called him a #2 lol, that's some pretty big praise.

As much as I want Bieksa moved like most others do, a part of me says screw it. Definition of a Canuck and he's as core as the Sedins are for us. Will never turn my back on him and he brings a different kind of leadership than that of the Twins which I think is necessary on any team...man, I hate the emotional connect part of sports lol. But putting that aside, best would be to get value back for him. Would be bittersweet to say the least :sadno:

Here's my take on Bieksa and Canucks "Fans???": "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone." We will rue the day. Is he on the decline? Perhaps. Is he still our grittiest leader and most aggressive D-man? Yup.

Nah, I totally agree but it's at a point where it'd be best for both sides to part just because of where they stand right now. Sucks but the best option imo.

Good. For once the Dreger Machine is churning in our favor, pumping up the value of people we need to get rid of instead of hurting the value.

I'd take a mid first and a prospect for Bieksa every day of the week and twice on Sunday. The time has come to move on, and Benning has to make room on the right side for waiver eligible young guys Corrado and Clendening.

Same folks who want bieksa gone for a crap return are the same folks who were cheering when Garrison got moved for a 2nd and then crying when T-bay made it to the finals.

Seriously, was anyone here "crying" when Tampa made it to the finals? Lots of people wishing Garrison well, though, just like most of us would Bieksa if he moves. Yeah, we might have a rough year or two on D coming up, but last year was no great shakes either so maybe it's time to make some changes while we can still get a return.

Hope he stays and plays out the contract. Juice was not the problem with this team...

This team doesn't need LESS leadership and grit.

There's 30 teams in the nhl that would be better with juice in the line up

You ever listen to 1040? Ever go on twitter? add those to the list of places people were crying about the Garrison deal last week. Its a fact jack.
