Toby Enstrom had not been receiving any of his points on pickup all season and I was thinking that eventually the website was just going to fix itself. However last night he earned a +1 for the first time making me think that the website is not going to give him the points he has earned up until last night's game.

TRADE:  The Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Blue Jays have made a trade (retroactive to Oct 27th):

To Detroit: Bobby Ryan, Calvin Pickard, Dillon Fournier

To Toronto: Brock Nelson, DET 2017 3rd

GM on gone nutz...

We obviously think very highly of Brock - and again, felt the necessity of giving ourselves greater cap/contract flexibility this coming summer.

Brock is a beast that we've wanted for quite some time.  May have a higher irl value than fantasy, but nevertheless, we think he'll be a core part of a contender for years to come, and has enough offensive upside for this to make sense for us despite his situational use (hard minutes irl).

We think Bobby has some great years ahead of him - he's been snake-bitten with unusually low shooting percentages this and last year, but we have no doubt that will come back to the norm and he'll remain highly productive.  Calvin was a difficult piece to move - a high end goaltending prospect with a lot of value in our opinion, but we're comfortable with our tending moving forward, and quite frankly, didn't receive an alternative offer that would have motivated us to move him.  We think Detroit is an ideal destination for him.

Did we overpay? Perhaps, but when we looked at our dealings with Roberto L, we found a GM that we've repeatedly enjoyed working with, and one that parted with considerable assets in our last deal in order to get what he wanted (our 5th overall / Provorov), so we felt a slight overpayment in reverse might be in order, particularly when it involved a piece that likewise makes sense to us moving forward.

We wish RL / Detroit the best  - we think he's added a pair of real quality pieces in this deal - and when we look at his assets moving forward, his D group is outstanding, his young forward group teaming with talent, and this deal adds a high end goaltending prospect - the future looks pretty bright in Detroit.

Now we both just need to climb out of the standings / situations neither of us enjoy being in at present.

Updated lineup:

The Detroit Red Wings would like to thank ON and the Maple Leafs organization once again for a enjoyable negotiation process. They have been inquiring about Brock for some time, and with the pieces finally coming together on a deal, we were able to come to an agreement that helps both sides.

Brock has been one of the core young players that our organization has been building around for a few summers now. However, with the opportunity to acquire a player like Bobby, who complements our younger roster players better than we believe Brock did, it made sense for us to explore the trade route with those two players being the main pieces. On top of that, our organization added a piece in Calvin Pickard who we have been very high on for some time now, and hope he can be our long-term answer in goal with the departure of Jonathan Quick last season.

The organization is excited about the future with this group of young talented players, but with that being said, being tied for 2nd-last in the league is not where we expected our team to be at this point in the season. With the expectations around our players maturing and contributing more, we expected to be in the top half of the league, not in a lottery position. We want to give this group of players a chance to right the ship and get this season back on track, however, it would be wrong of our organization not to prepare for the worst case scenario and tinkering more with our roster to improve this team.

At this time, the Red Wings would like to let fellow GMs know that they are open for trade discussions on roster players who were previously considered immovable. That is not to say deals are imminent, but the time has come to explore options that would make sense for this team both in terms of short term competitiveness, but more importantly, looking long term and being competitive year in and year out.

Wonder when Pickard will emerge? He was so good for 10 or 12 games last year.

I reckon good trade for both teams.

My opinion on that is that he'd be backing up Varlamov if it weren't for Berra's remaining year of term.  Who knows - he could steal Varlamov's starts if he keeps stumbling (and Berra aint been bad either, perhaps feeling the heat from Pickard).

As it turns out, we signed Quick in free agency (who was a RedWing last yeard, where Pickard went).... We're very committed to Markstrom (hometown heart/attachment), we like Skapski's potential down the road, and we're hoping Mason McDonald lives up to pedigree and emerges as a Flame eventually.

Calvin might be the best of the bunch, but a risk we figured we'd have to take.  He's definitely got that step-up / compete you like to see.
