Montreal's November 3 Stars

The season couldn't be going much better for the Habs, as their fully healthy (knock on wood) team ended November like they did in October, atop the CDCGML standings. Huge seasons from a few veterans, and some Calder-worthy play from a few rookies, have carried the Habs into the position they're in.

3rd StarDylan Larkin (66 NOV points - 117 overall) - The race for rookie-of-the-year honours on the team is a tight one, as three rookies have over 100 points on the season this far. But Dylan had the best month of November with his 66 points (7 goals, 3 assists and 2 GWG). Max Domi is right behind Larkin overall with 109 points, and Colin Miller is lurking just behind with 100 of is own. Could the Habs have a few guys up for the Calder at the end of the season?

2nd Star Henrik Lundqvist (100 NOV points - 160 overall) - No goalie has had a better start to the season than Hank, and as his 160 overall pool points lead the position. But what a month it was for the veteran net minder, with 100 (!) points (8 wins and two shutouts). That would usually win the monthly honours as the top star, but a teammate managed to earn even more...

1st Star Brent Burns (102 NOV points - 153 overall) - The big, bearded, toothless wonder on the blueline had a whale of the month for the Habs. Burns totalled 102 (!!!) points on the month, highlighted by 8 goals, 6 assists, 6 PP points and a GWG. Production like this from the backend is huge in this league, and Burns has delivered to earn the top spot this month.

Honourable Mentions: Rick Nash (66 points), Alex Galchenyuk (59 points), Colin Miller (56 points), Carl Soderberg & Max Domi (51 points each).

did anyone else collect the Tim Hortons Hockey Cards the last 3 months or so?

I literally just need card #30 to complete the basic set and then just 18 other cards in total to complete all the subsets, et cetera....willing to trade, if any of you other GM's felt inclined to buy packs.....let me know

The New York Rangers, *Live from Madison Square Garden(*consult our home game schedule), are proud to announce the NOVEMBER 3 STARS:

3rd Star: Skating at Left Wing on our Top LIne, Thomas Vanek has managed to stay in the three stars two months in a row to start the season. An outstanding player, Thomas put 6 shots in the net while also recording 3 assists and a healthy plusminus haul of 12 pool points, eeking out a 3rd star ahead of linemate Jarome Iginla.

2nd Star: Mike Smith improved on his October numbers substantially and vaulted up from Honourable Mention to 2nd star of the month with his 5 regulation wins, an OT win and to top things off, a goalie assist. Rare indeed. his 6 and 3 record in November is a big reason why he leads the team in GML Pool Points, earning him the 2nd Star with 70 November points.

1st Star: Henrik Sedin burned up the ice in November with an incredible performance as the Top Line Center. His 6 goals, 11 assists and 14 points worth of plusminus led to a huge 78 point month for newly acquired Henrik Sedin. We think he has settled in nicely and look forward to watching him lead this team back to the playoffs.

Honourable Mention: Jarome Iginla with 48 points on offense was narrowly beaten out of 3rd star honours by Thomas Vanek and deserves a shout out in the November 3 Stars. There you have them.

(October: 1st:Thomas Vanek, 2nd:Juri Hudler, 3rd: Andrej Sekera.Mentions:Mike Smith)

Weeeeeeeelll, Shat! That one word for the team report?

We filled our roster at the start of the year, having 10 plus spots to fill and no rookies ready, with solid guys not star players. Because that's what our budget allowed. Role players they could be called? And hoped to score with depth while collecting young guys to develop. We were hoping to stay competitive at least in the middle of the standings while we integrated those young players. We're not and we're dropping in the standings. A couple of guys are not performing. Too many guys who had larger roles LY are playing well but filling checking line roles in real life ATM...

Its too bad. But there is promise.  We're getting great goaltending and solid play from our young D. And some signs our young forwards may start to emerge.  Skinner has been getting great reports from the coaching staff and has potted a few lately. Rychel has got some games and points in. Several of our non roster guys, notably Ahti Oksanen & D man Jakub Jerabek, to a lesser extent Pavel Zacha, are having great seasons at lower levels. We still have cap space, will have more in the off season and a ton the year after. Christian Thomas (assist last night), Matt O'Connor & Casey Bailey have all had recalls although we have not had room on our roster. So a lot of the building blocks are starting to fall into place where not all there yet.

Its going to take patience...

This was my waiver.

i didn't place a claim on Strome.

This is the only claim I could find, not Matt Irwin & not within 24 hours?

I'm fairly certain I claimed Matt Irwin

Word out of Madison Square Garden is that GM Primal Optimist was not happy with his defence so far this year and that is why a prominent forward is missing from the morning skate. A trade has been negotiated, reportedly moving a forward, whose name we are politely witholding, for two defencemen to help shore up the blue line.

Quote

It was really nothing the boys were doing wrong, we want them to play the way we have them playing, the issue was we had just six Dmen on the active game day roster, and that wears on anybody, I don't care who you are. We needed to address depth from the back end, and we have done that in spades today. ~GM PO
