Three Stars of the Month of December for the New York Rangers ....

....will be forced to have a shortened format today due to four minutes of time before I am due on the road to mama's house with the whole family in tow.....

WIthout further ado: Connor Murphy has secured the First OVerall Star of the Month for December with an amazing 45 point performance from the blueline. Connor has taken that step forward that was envisioned by our front office staff and scouts when we made the decision to deal Jake Muzzin last year. 3 GOALS, 1 assist and 16 points on the plus minus with just 4 plm points combine to honour our young gun defender as First Star!

Antoine Vermette's 3 goals propelled him past the third star winner, despite two points less in production as a well deserved 2nd Star of the month falls on the centerman's shoulders. as well as 3 goals, Antoine registered 5 assists and 6 points on the plus minus. 8 plm points helped to round out Vermette's 45 point month of December!

Henrik Sedin has become a fixture in the Stars of the Month for the Rangers since being acquired at the beginning of the season in a highly controversial trade, luckily for GM PO ownership likes to see his name in this monthly awards post. THird Star of the Month is earned by a huge 9 assist performance 10 points on the plusminus and 1 goal, Honest Hank also had just 4 plm points for the entire month of december en route to his third appearance in this list.

Honourable Mentions to Andrej Sekera, Jarome Iginla, and Thomas Vanek, with 34, 34 and 35 points respectively.

Until Feb 1st, Cheers to everyone out there and Happy New Year from all of me here at the New York Rangers, peace out.

Hands down Edmonton's player of the month; Justin Faulk!

97 pool points and 223 YTD leaves just a handful of more productive skaters this month in the league. And even less D. Just Karlsson & Josi (great month) I believe ahead for the 31 days in December? I did not look through all rosters, that's just who I noticed. In any case its a month we are proud of, thanks Justin!

Be great to get some boys back? Currently missing top pairing D Oscar Klefbom, Michael Neuvirth, Michael Frolik, Dan Hamhuis, Jakub Josefson, Nick Spaling & Boyd Gordon. Lets see if we can talk to the medical staff and help get some momentum going?

Waivers: Montreal places Paul Postma on waivers with the intent to assign him to North Dakota.

Assignment: Montreal assigns Colin Miller to North Dakota (does not require waivers)

Recall: The Habs recall Shea Theodore and Joe Morrow from North Dakota.

The Habs had yet another solid month this December, posting the 7th-best total and remaining in the thick of the chase for the top overall spot in the CDCGML.  And it's easy to see why, as their top defenders have kept piling up the points:

3rd Star: Jason Demers - What a revelation Jason has been. The rearguard has been incredibly solid alongside Andy Greene for Montreal, and his 58 pool points in December are a major reason why the Habs are where they are. Production from the middle of the lineup is key, and Jason has been doing that for us.

2nd Star: Erik Johnson - After a slow start to the season for the veteran defender, Erik went off in December and showed why he is a major component of our blueline. Johnson nearly doubled is yearly total in December, as his 73 points pushed him to 149 overall.

1st Star: Brent Burns - Somebody kick the jukebox, it keeps playing the same song. Burns again led Montreal in points for the month with another 88, including a stunning 6 goals and 7 assists. 15 goals and 18 assists for the big guy overall. What a stud Burns has turned into.

Honorable mentions: Carl Soderberg (57 points), Henrik Lundqvist (55 points) and Thomas Griess (50 points)

didn't i trade him to you for peanuts from the sharks years ago in this league?

Not that I recall - I was Florida, then left for a bit, came back and took over Quebec.

I did giveaway my fair share of players over the years though

Rumours: WIth the recent slump Vancouver has been in, sources are confirming that an unrest has crept among the management team and patience has worn thin and changes may be on the horizon. Sources are confirming that names such as Chris Tanev, Frederik Andersen are potentially being shopped to try and shake up the dynamic of the locker room in the hopes of making a surge to the playoffs. As well, sources are confirming that no prospect is being made untouchable and any can be had in the right trade. Inquire within.
