TRADE: A trade has been made between Toronto and Philadelphia, retroactive to Dec 11th:

To Philadelphia:

Clarke Macarthur, Anton Lander, Toronto 2nd 2016

To Toronto:

Dennis Wideman (2 million retained for the 2016/17 season)

Thanks to the RR for a fun negotiation - we have some exchanges! for sure and worked on something in the summer, couldn't quite finalize terms, but revisited it early in December and found something that works for both clubs.  Clarke has always been one of my favoirite players - some tough injury luck recently, but a quality two way guy that could really help a club when healthy.  We also really like Anton and fully expect him to bounce his production back up where it'll inevitably be, but we have a wealth of young forwards to make room for at present and while Edmonton's future is bright, Anton was unlikely to help us this postseason should we meet our goal of making the playoffs.

We're taking a gamble on Calgary, thinking they have a decent shot of closing the gap in a stumbling Pacific division, and are hoping that spending these pieces to acquire him might help us secure a rare playoff spot in Toronterrible.  We'll see, but we're going to give it our best shot.

Leafs updated roster:

Josh Bailey – Pavel Datsyuk - Brock Nelson

Boone Jenner - Mikael Backlund - Cody Eakin

Alex Wennberg – Oscar Lindberg - Brandon Pirri

Vlad Namestnikov – Jared McCann – Nick Shore

Austin Watson – Michael Mersch

TJ Brodie  - Jacob Trouba
Dennis Wideman  - Kris Russell

Brian DuMoulin – Dalton Prout
Stefan Elliott

Jonathon Quick
Jacob Markstrom

TRADE: a trade has been made between St Louis and the New York islanders, retroactive to Dec 27th:

To St.Louis Blues

Darcy Kuemper

To New York Islanders:

Torrey Mitchell, Rafael Diaz , WSH 2016 3rd Round Pick

We would like to wish Torrey and Rafael all the best in New York. I know we have just signed Torrey in the Off-Season to a 3 Years Deal and he was supreme in Oktober and November untill he got injured but we felt we have to do something on the Goalie Position Future wise. Furhter Torrey is playing for a Playoffbound Team now, we felt thats a better option for him.

So we want to welcome Darcy Kuemper back in St.Louis. Sadly he suffered a concussion short after the Deal was made but we are confident that he will be back soon. Further we hope he can keep his play and that he re-signs in the Summer because we think he is a good Option for the Future.

Now that we are in the new year - Arizona is willing to listen to offers on Ribiero or Brian Campbell.

Both are on playoff teams and would be a good boost for any team.

With that being said - we are not 'giving' them away, it needs to make sense given that we are in a playoff spot.

Furthermore - Christian Folin and Mark Barbario are available for teams looking for playoff defensive depth.

Lastly - looking to move a forward - we have a couple forwards in the minors who 'deserve' a look - whether that be with us or someone else (Kenins or Grenier etc.)

EXTENSION: The Florida Panthers have extended the contract of defenseman Jake Muzzin to a six year deal.

small.pngJake Muzzin: 6 years, $ 29.4 million dollar contract ( $ 4,900,000.00 per season ).

We are thrilled to announce the contract extension of Jake. Over the past season and a half Jake has brought a new element to our defensive core that has fit right in with our club and will continue to do so as a top player for us. Jake is a player that will help us all the way from October to May and be able to eat up a lot of minutes along side Erik.

Thanks to agent Mike for his time in getting a deal done promptly.
