Ty Webb
Due to some amazing luck, my CDCGML Draft fortunes are tied to the Vancouver Canucks in real life, if they win then I win. It is causing me internal grief, the PAIN, the PAIN!

Otis
Very excited to have won my third presidents trophy. It has been a great season in Florida. We have been able to up keep our regular season success in big part to the leadership of Patrick Kane and Erik Karlsson. Our young players are continuing to develop into contributors throughout our lineup which has given us a fresh look this year while maintaining our high level of play. Best of luck to oldnews in our series. Was a great season for the leafs and we will do our best to make sure it ends soon

Primal Optimist
Five things; Congrats Florida on pulling it out in the end to top Minnesota for the Pres' Cup, (since you already have it, maybe this year we give you the strap to hold it in place?) THis year 4458 was enough points to make the playoffs, meaning that 23rd overall was less than 400 points away from there..that is only 17 points per player all season long, or one healthy starting goalie away...or one top pair Dman away, or a top six forward short of the dance. I like that it is getting closer, and not farther apart for the threashold, even as top end teams are getting more competition, congrats on a great season Minny!! Speaking as one of the 7 teams below 23rd place: I know my squad if healthy all year would be in that mix, somewhere above or below 4458 but within the "Peloton" to borrow a phrase from bike racing. Therefore, I am not overly depressed about our finish. We may have, but for the broken bones and pulled groins and surgeries, achieved glory! lol Canuck2Xtreme, theminister, our group of execs and our GM's are to a man, one hell of a great mix of people, and I appreciate that a lot, you all add dimension and flavour to the game without being over the top, thanks again everyone. and lastly the playoffs: Eastern Round One Matches: Florida Hosts Toronto Montreal Hosts Ottawa New Jersey Hosts Tampa Bay Pittsburgh Hosts the New York Islanders Western Round One Matchups: Minnesota Hosts San Jose Columbus Hosts Winnipeg Los Angeles Hosts Vancouver Arizona Hosts Calgary This is of course subject to the Commish' final appraisal, but as best as I can reckon. Good Luck everyone, from here on out I am totally partisan as I have a couple underdogs in mind that I hope upset the applecart! haha.

Monty
With the playoffs starting, I'm finding myself in a very familiar position, as I was in this place last year when I joined FL around the same time as I joined GML. Only difference is I sit with the 5th worst in the league instead of 8th worst. So, the Philadelphia Flyers are open for business. We are looking to add draft picks, so all players are available for discussion. Shayne Gostisbehere is the only one off limits, as I just extended him, and I remain loyal to contracts I hand out. Otherwise, all offers welcome (yes, even my lottery pick).
da.moose
WASHINGTON CAPITALS SEASON CLOSING PRESS CONFERENCE Congratulations to all the award winners, playoff teams, and executives. I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to be in this league and will continue to try to develop Washington into a champion. Being on the outside looking in at this time of year is never fun but I do think that there is great reason for optimism here in Washington right now. Since losing Datsyuk to free agency a couple seasons back we have had trouble filling the hole left on our roster. Patrik Elias made the shift to center from his natural winger position late in his career and has continued to battle for us. This has been his team since day one and we wanted to remain loyal to our superstar but his body just wasn't capable of going more than 16 games this season. We feel fortunate that Patrik has committed putting everything he has into the Capitals and are definitely awaiting a decision from him as to whether or not he wants to or feels capable of returning next season but we do realize that we are going to have to build with the mindset that he won't be here. If he does choose to play another season in the NHL we would obviously hope that he stays with our team because we would love to have him. Kyle Turris who was our leading scorer last season got injured at the midway point of the season and tried to play but our staff eventually decided to shut him down so he could properly rehab and so he can hopefully remain a top 6 center for us for many years to come. However this left us with our veteran role players Sam Gagner and Andrew Cogliano doing their best to take both the top 6 center roles down the stretch and though our boys performed admirably in those roles; we feel that those two guys are much better suited in the middle six and special teams roles that they have been developed to play in. Goaltending was also very tough for us this season. We extended Lehtonen 3 years to close out last season and were hoping he could continue to bring us close to the same amount of games played and wins as last year but obviously we were thrown a curveball once free agency opened up that we just weren't able to find a viable player to share the net with him mid season at the right value. Though these obstacles were slightly too much to overcome this season, like I said I think there is still huge reason for optimism in the nation's capital. I have been privileged enough to be a General Manager for six full seasons now and have always built my team the way I have always believed would give me long term success and stability. Watching the development of my young group for six years and seeing the players that they have become and figuring out the roles that they are best suited for has been a pleasure. Turris, Kane, Kreider, Silfverberg, Ellis and Despres were all brought in as prospects and are now taking over the roles of veterans and leaders. Yandle, Enstrom, Gagner, and Cogliano will all likely be back as well next season to fill the roles that they have for years now. The important part during a transition year like this one though is the performance of young players and the young players in our organization give me tons of reason for optimism. John Klingberg has statistically developed into our highest producer now with only two NHL seasons under his belt. Anthony Duclair just had his rookie season and led our entire forward group in points and was right up there in goals as well. William Nylander had a fantastic season and will likely give us a Calder candidate next year for the third straight season to join Klingberg and Duclair as young players excelling in our system. We are fully expecting Nylander to step into a big role next season and think he will be very capable of developing into that top 6 center that we have lacked and will take some of the weight off Turris and should give us two very capable offensive lines. We see Matt Murray as the top goaltending prospect in the world right now and though we are not certain whether or not he is going to take the leap into full time NHLer next season or not, we are confident that he is the goalie of our future. Add in the success we have seen from some of the less noticed prospects this season as Andrew Copp, Ryan Dzingel, and Chris Wideman all had very strong rookie campaigns while Jyrki Jokipakka has continued to blossom during his second NHL season. I have always been a believer that depth is essential in building a great organization and take great pride in continuing to find young players to play roles on my roster from within. At this time our main focus will now move to re-signing our group, hopefully to long term deals as well as our projected 13th overall draft pick who we believe should become a great player for us for years to come. I will continue to build this team the way I always have and think that the potential retirement of Elias as well as the loss of Datsyuk (though we have been without him for two seasons now) marks the end of an era. My goal at this point is to build a team that has more success over the next eight years than this team has had over the past six. For whoever took the time to read this thank you for reading and know that you still have a committed GM in Washington who loves this game and all the fantastic people that contribute to it year in and year out as well as the new ones who look like a very very competitive crop. Once again congratulations and good luck to all the playoff teams as we build for next season.
