I like the idea of 4 rounds in the draft, also happy with how things are going.

Yes many players are left behind so to speak, but that creates great debates within team's management groups around the League " do I take player x eligible this year ? or do I snag player x not taken last year but drafted in real life last year in the 3rd round ? " I find that to be a lot of fun as well.

But again 4 rounds would be great as well.

Teams have gotten so good at finding gems that I don't think one extra round would change our approach to it. Obviously there wouldn't be as much debate, so there is pros and cons.

After losing out on one UFA, and almost losing out on another...while only adding the best defenseman in hockey in Duncan Keith, we are feeling quite dejected.

The Sharks are re-aligning their Front Office Budgets:

Medical: 12M

Player Dev: 5M

Minors: 16M

Player Relations: 12M

hope that changes your fortunes.

Signing:

small.pngCalgary Flames have signed Rinat Valiev to a 3 year, 3.75 million dollar contract (1.25mil per season)

Shrewd signing this... Big, fast D man with a history of putting up points in junior.

And came over to play in NA to advance his career!

ARBY-BUZZ

Wednesday, July 29th 2015

  • After not seeing much action over the past few weeks, Alex Semin has been bombarded with offers over the past 72 hours. I wonder why? Semin is expected to take his time with this newfound interest and find the best fit possible.
  • Matt Irwin is a player who has received substantial interest all summer, and has narrowed his choices of teams down to 2-3 teams. Expect a signing shortly.
  • Starting netminders have been a hot commodity this summer, and Jimmy Howard is still looking for a team to latch on to. He is seeking the "right fit" though, which in the opinion of him and his agent is a starting position...
  • While on the topic of goaltenders, Jacob Markstrom has been pursued heavily by an Eastern Canadian team and things appear to be getting close...
  • The Winnipeg Jets are rumoured to be listening to offers on young centerman Mark Scheifele, which isn't overly surprising since they're pretty full up the middle with Crosby and Kesler on that roster.
  • Finally, another front office shakeup is apparently close to happening, as an owner of a Western Conference team hasn't liked what they've seen so far this summer...

If you have any rumours to add to the next edition of ARBY-BUZZ, please send a PM my way. :)

Some interesting stuff up here ^ !!!

Is Markstrom trade talks, or did he not get qualified > UFA?

yeah! good job man. I am in the same state really, I am thrilled to have a prospects system in my minors that actually has some prospects....building the minor league with solid future forward guys while not selling the main team out..its tough and takes a bit of time, but we were a playoffs team the season before last...and last year dropped way down while trying to rebuild 'in place'. I expect better this year honestly, we should compete for a playoff spot, but I wouldn't say we are all the way there as a true contender for the cup...but we are closer. That is the fun of the game, year round. building and adding and learning and like golf, beating my last years handicap. lol

EDIT: HOLY CATHOLIC GIRLS BATMAN, I went strait from this post to NHL.com and saw there that the Canucks Acquired Brandon Sutter, awesome move for our home team heroes...and then i saw in that article that Eric Fehr will be a Penguin this year, which is fantastic news for me and the Rangers here at the CDCGML. hehehe...what a good all around hockey night.

Yikes, Madonna! I like Catholic girls.

Batman can wait his turn! ;) And thanx PO!

Sorry to rain on the rumours, but neither is the case.

The Leafs qualified Jacob - and would certainly not entertain the option of not doing so considering how aggressively we pursued him and paid a significant price to acquire him. We've been engaged in contract negotiations with Jacob and are in the process of crossing the t's on a deal as we've accepted terms presented recently by Jacob.

As for trade talks - we have had no talks with any eastern teams, let alone are we close to a deal involving Jacob.

We have had inquiries from a number of Western Conference teams regarding our goaltenders and are engaged in trade talks, but those negotiations do not involve Jacob Markstrom.

We're not sure where the Eastern rumour may originate, but that is the nature of the business.

We did recently snub the former Leafs uber-source (and cousin to a former GM), and we've seen the way he conducted himself in relation to Mike Gillis after Gillis succeeded his cousin Dave Nonis in Vancouver... Hey, it all makes the game more interesting, doesn't it?

But we can't jump to any conclusions - there are competitors in the East that we probably haven't made friends with, that might wish to sour our relationship with Jacob by originating rumours that we are close to dealing him. The fact that is simply not the case will be borne out in the near future.

Sorry arby - I misunderstood the "heavily pursued" wording, but the "has been" part could have clued me in to what you're getting at. The irony in my own word..."considering how aggressively we pursued him." Derp. I might have added that up but went full brain-cramp instead.

I love the rumour mill though, and was having some fun with it - official denial statement style. It also gave me another opportunity to take a shot at Darren Dreger via Canuck Surfer! I hope you keep up the excellent espionage.

(My apologies to Darren Dreger btw - cheap shot on my part). :bigblush:(but we still think you're a trool!).

LOL

Don't get me wrong, I'm lucky and I'm only blaming my lack of diligence paid to my Front Office Budgets.

Who knows, maybe Keith could have come a little cheaper if I'd done a better job in the offices

Price and Tulowitzki is a sick deadline haul.

They desperately needed a guy like Price - but two of the best assets in the game....

That is the definition of going all in.

Anthopolis's contract is up after this season. Why not mortgage the future if your future depends on it. Great moves on his part.
