four players or the field - who would you bet on?

Okay, so we've all seen those bets in the playoffs where you can take say two teams or the other teams in the playoffs. Well I'd like to open this up to Canucks nation and see who would put their money on four guesses as to who Vancouver will draft with their first pick - currently 23. Or would you what to put your money on the rest of the players in the NHL Draft?

I'll take Jansen, Chabot, Carlsson and Carlo as my 4 guys.

Who you betting on, four players of your choice or the field?

Benning has stated we will go after the best player available. Im taking that to mean a forward or defence. I think this year all of the top D man will go high, especially after what chicago just proved. My bet is a top forward prospect will fall by the 23rd pick, benning will grab him. I think we will go D after

if benning gets a high 2nd round pick, i'ld go for the best forward with the 23rd pick...someone like boeser or merkley...

i'ld rather he trade each year for d-men who have matured their game or who are close...

i doubt the d-men they could draft at 23 will turn out any better than who would be available in the top end of the 2nd.....i could be all wet though...

A lot of people are thinking it is likely the Canucks will trade up in the trade into the top 10. (Pretty much every mock draft has Provorov in the top 10 and most have Werenski in the top 10 also). I would like to know what trade people think the Canucks will make to get into the top 10.

I thought Benning had almost ruled that out. Earlier I suggested that a trade involving Cassels and the #8 overall pick (Columbus) was possible but I now think that is not going to happen.

Teams usually require a big return to give up a top 10 pick. So how do the Canucks get there.

Someone else suggested that the Canucks for the BAC (best available Canadian). That is my vote. Picking at #23 I think that means Merkely, Harkins, Chabot and Roy.

If the Canucks get a high second rounder (like #31 overall from Buffalo) and manage to get two of those guys that would be an excellent draft and I will break out a bottle of champagne.

If the Canucks take Kylington I think I be on bread and water for the day.

I think for the Canucks to pick in the top 8-12...you would have to be parting with a Jared McCann +...In the top 3-7,you would be parting with either Horvat or Jake +....These are the players that JB said were untouchables,so don't hold your breath on moving up.

A crazy over payment like Edler and Markstrom might get you Columbus's 8th with their GM being Jarmo Kekalainen, but that isn't going to happen.

Fantasies aside, just saying there are ways but none that make sense for both parties, JB is no fool.

Both these responses make sense to me. This means the Canucks will not be moving into the top 10 and will not be getting Provorov or Werenski.

It has been a longstanding theme on CDC that the biggest missing piece on the Canucks has been a Norris candidate level D. I don't think that hole will be fixed this year.

As Benning has said, picking in the lower part of the draft (20-30) you hope to get a D who be a solid top 4. I think that is the most we can hope for. But I would take Harkins or Merkely before the Ds who are likely gong to be available because I think they are lower risk.

I would rather use later draft picks on Ds -- basically lottery tickets -- hoping one or two work out well. The best thing would be to get a really good D prospect like Ekblad last year or Hannifin or Provorov this year. But that is not feasible right now.
