bobby loocid dreamer
Few trades to help move the team toward the future. To NYI: Radim Vrbata, Eddie Lack To VAN: Griffin Reinhardt, FLA 2015 3rd This trade gives Tavares a shooter to play with. At times Halak was excellent but when he faltered last season, he fell hard and the back up situation there was horrendous. He would create a 1A 1B situation there. For Vancouver, we gain a very good D prospect who may be ready for a bottom pairing role in the NHL. If he isnt, not a big deal- we are thinking long term stud here. To STL: Kevin Bieksa To VAN: Tommy Vannelli, EDM 2015 4th Bieksa adds a ton of stability to the Blues back end. For Vancouver, Vannelli is a highly offensive defenseman who is probably 3+ years away from making the club. To BUF: FLA 3rd (72 overall), EDM 4th (94th overall), Dane Fox To VAN: NYI 2nd (51st overall) We acquire 2 solid future pieces for the back end and a solid 2nd round pick that we can now afford to go for more of a high risk high reward type player- landing a Josh Ho-Sang Anthony DeAngelo type guy who falls because of character questions. Fill up that cupboard Benning.

thejazz97
Wouldn't be that bad if NYI didn't already have Neuvirth... Other than that, I like these trades.
Warhippy
I dig these except for the last one Why are we giving a 3rd AND a 4th AND a prospect who lit it up in the CHL and then again in the last half of the season for the k Wings just for a mid round 2nd?? Rather keep the 3rd 4th and fox
bobby loocid dreamer
Wouldn't be that bad if NYI didn't already have Neuvirth... Other than that, I like these trades. Neuvirth went 7-20-4 last year with a GAA of nearly 3. Yes, the majority of that was on Buffalo but his numbers are pretty bad even after the trade. Neuvirth had one very good season in 2010-11 and even then, his save % was .914. Eddie has better numbers over his career, in recent history (last 2 seasons), and has proven he can win a game his team doesnt deserve to win. That is exactly what the Islanders need. When Halak falters, having an extremely good backup to take the reins and continue to help the team win and be confident is huge.

Rather keep the 3rd 4th and fox moving up 20 spots in a deep draft is going to cost you. statistically a pick at 50 is 25% more likely to play in the NHL than a pick at 70 (27% to 21% chance). We have seen a more scientific strategy of drafting in recent years and it should result in that gap to widen, improving the value of a 2nd round pick vs a 3rd or 4th. and I could be wrong but I see Dane Fox as an average at best AHLer. I doubt he has what it takes to make the NHL.
