nucklehead
http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2015/06/23/character-actor-dick-van-patten-dies/29157457/ Dick Van Patten, the venerable comic character actor who made millions chuckle on Eight is Enough and The Love Boat, has died. He was 86. His death was confirmed by his publicist, Jeff Ballard, who said he died at a Santa Monica hospital early Tuesday from complications from diabetes. Van Patten was a familiar face on American TV for decades, with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But his best known role was that of beloved patriarch Tom Bradford on the family sitcom Eight is Enough, about the goofy dad of a family with eight kids that ran from 1977 to 1981. Guest
Not seen this reported once in the UK - a shame, as he was a very good entertainer. Was it Dick Van Patten who said "If you label me, you negate me"?
