I recall Benning said on locker cleanout day early april, that they would be working on Boeser's contract. it is now may 25 and still no contract. why would it be taking so long, it seems other teams are having no problems resigning players and yet it has been very quiet on the Canucks front. come on Benning  get it done!!!

I think his agent is taking his time, not JB.  He wants to see what comp players are signing for.

So after listening to the Spitten Chicklets podcast, Biz noted that Brock Boeser agreed to come on the show for an interview. i'm interested to see if he opens up at all.

About his contract negotiations? Very unlikely, Brock seems like a smart kid. Discussing negotiations while you are actually negotiating is pretty stupid.

I hope not. That would be one of their worst interviews. I would love Markstrom on the podcast. He would tell it like it is.

or

maybe

his agent is speaking to wee willie's agent

to see how he can get brock an 11 million payday this year

by holding out till december

and then getting 7.999 for the balance of a shorter then 7 year deal

i'm still amazed wee willie got paid 10 million for the 1/2 season of mediocre hockey he recently played

Dubas and Trudeau follow the same economic model.  The Budget and Salary Cap will balance themselves.

Really not concerning at all at this stage. The obsessive Canuck fan in me is dying for something to happen so we have some real news to unpack. The draft and free agency can not come soon enough!

T-minus 22 days :towel:

I would think that there aren't going to be a lot of discussions on signing Brock right now as the Combine and Draft are the focus.

They want to know how much cap space they have ahead of free agency.   Interview period starts at midnight of day 2.

I think the sooner Benning gets Boeser signed the better. as for Edler and a few others, leaving everything until the last minute is not a good sign from Benning, and I am a fan of Benning. but it was reported earlier on that Boeser   was being reasonable. where does that leave Benning

its far too early to be worried about this. It makes sense that both sides are probably a couple mil apart, that will close in as the draft and free agent discussions get closer and Jim has an idea of what he really has to play with $ wise.

Say e.g., that Karlsson really does want to be a Canuck, I'd be fine with not resigning Edler in that case and trying a cheaper stay at home LHD to keep the cap under control and he can lock up Boeser long term. If money's tighter, he may need to look at the bridge option.
