stawns
Elite D? Are not they almost impossible to get, unless through the draft? Many of whom are selected in the 2nd round because ut is nearly impossible to project a dmans development track 5 years down the road. Unless I am picking in the top 5, i would pretty much go fwd in the first round across the board.
uselessstats
Elite D? Are not they almost impossible to get, unless through the draft? Is Roy likely to be an elite D? Roy's a smart defender but doesn't have great size or top end skating. Anything's possible I suppose but I like Boeser's chances to be a top line winger more than Roy's chances to be a top pair D. Nave
Heading into the draft, it seemed like Jeremy Roy was the concensus first pick among the fans. We needed an offensive defenseman badly and Roy seemed like the ideal fit. In hindsight, if we did the draft over again, who would have picked Roy over Boser? I for one wanted Boeser. Wasn't convinced with any of the low round defensemen. And I'd do it again

I don't think the Canucks were ever going to take Roy in the first round. I think they were trying desperately to get a 2nd hoping that he would be there. I'm happy with Boeser and Brisebois. I think Brisebois fits the same mold of what we need, he's just not as high profile.
canuckpuckluck1
i stated all along that I thought Rasmus Andersson was the best defender available at the time of the Canucks pick. Time will tell. Much the same as i thought Sanheim was the pick of last years defenders in or around the Canucks pick (not the number 6 pick) i was disappointed that he went before the Canucks got their 2nd first round pick again time will tell

Alflives
I wasn't impressed with the suicide pass he sent McCann, or the lack of response afterwards. yup, the response tells me that team is doing nothing at the world Jrs. I wonder how Boeser takes contact. I don't mean big hits like McCann took, because no one does well taking those (except maybe Lucic). I mean just regular mixing it up, or scrumming as JB puts it? Both Boeser and Brisebois were not high profile because they were on bad teams, which could benefit us in the end
Amish Rake Fighter
I was actually very very unimpressed with Roy at the Jr tourney a few weeks ago. No kidding, after all the squawking on here about how the Canucks should have taken him, I was expecting him to at least stand out.

Gstank29
I was actually very very unimpressed with Roy at the Jr tourney a few weeks ago. So where are all the people who said Roy was the best defenceman around our pick...... Even after I stated he was unimpressive at the u18 Tournament in April and he wasn't noticable at all????? It's just to risky, doesn't mean they are doomed lol You're kidding, right? This is a Canadian team. I don't know how most other Canadian fans felt watching our team's lack of response, but I was disgusted. There was no way that Russian player should have gotten away without facing the music, regardless whether the hit was clean or not. Any team that does not stand up for one another (IMO) becomes a group of individuals, who will win nothing. The only guy who did anything about it was Virtanen, and he was not even playing that game, so he made the guy answer the next game. You are, of course, allowed to voice your opinion, but I strongly disagree. And "Lots Of Love" right back at you. cyoung
If it was the real deal ya stand up for your teammate but alot of these guys have nhl camps, junior camps etc coming up and it is incredibly important for their future not to be hurt. Sure it sucks McCann got hurt but the only reason people are crying so much is because we took it personal. It sucks ass that McCann got hurt but I wouldn't want some other kid go in and fight, get a concussion to and miss his camp. I think people are overreacting big time. To say this team is a bunch of individuals is jumping the gun. Let's see how they play in the real thing.

No one is gonna go and get injured over a game in August or whenever it happened because a guy who might not even be on the final roster got hit. They have their own business going on. If this was December/January you'd likely see a response but not in a game like that one.
