TheRussianRocket.
Only a little less than fair value This in essence. Would've like a 2nd but early 3rd works too to prevent the goalie controversy. Plus he's a pending UFA and 27.
Derp...
i dknt think we'll get anywhere near the talent thats left in the next 10 picks You might be right, but in the end we either would have had to pay him as a starter next year or move him in the summer for future that are even further away from helping us. canucks_kcchiefs
Why trade Lack for such a low return? Why not just trade Markstrom for a 7th rounder? I think this draft has crystallized what a poor GM Dim Jim really is. Willing to trade a markstrom for a 7th over lack for a 3rd just shows how much of a Lack fanboy you are. Get a clue. He's an average goalie with little to no upside. Y'all act like his sense of humour and twitter account alone deserve a second round pick.
250Integra
Luongo + Schneider + Lack For Horvat, Markstrom, 3rd, 7th Two franchise goalies and a potential #1 that could've helped this team for years to come, or expedite this rebuilding process. Yes, Horvat was great but hopefully Markstrom finds his NHL game...
Wilbur
Pretty much what Devan Dubnyk got in trade, so makes sense. Was hoping for more, but realistically Eddie is 27 and a UFA after one year.

cbdoubleu
That's all I would offer for an Eddie Lack. So glad he's gone though. Not a fan of the goofy personality.
Gollumpus
From the first page: Good luck Eddie. Unable to get a 2nd rounder but I imagine the management team would of left no stone unturned in trying. We can now move on and get excited for Markey and Miller Ib4 betting haters gather and claim we got fleeced !!! Sorry folks but that's the market for a 27yr old w. 1 yr left until UFA. Not Bennings fault. Of all cities we should know goalies market is terrible. Ps Carolinas pick is early 3rd. 66th I believe. Can get a decent prospect there. Ethan Bear, Filip AHL. , Blake Speers. Lmao yea it's Bennings fault ! He should have just taken that 1st rnd pick offered yesterday. ! Lol. Bennning took best deal available. Only a little less than fair value regards, G. Swedish elite3
I think a 2nd was what everyone was hoping for but am very happy with this deal either way. Lack is so extremely overrated on these boards because he is funny on Twitter and has a quirky personality. In reality, he is a 28 year old backup and we have one of the better goalie talents in the league in Markström coming up. Didn't realize how many pre-teens are on these boards crying over an average player getting traded. That "Eddie is the heart of this team" comment made me laugh. If that is true, then this team is in a severely worse shape than expected. Imagine the difference of winning a cup being a quirky average goalie.. Jesus christ, Canuck fans sometimes. Thing is he's actually a good goalie who can play and win games. I'm not just a fan of his because he's funny on twitter that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard lots of people say it. A 3rd and a 7th is a joke for a NHL starter. Your probably in the same boat that Talbot is much better and worth a 1st I'd assume?
WestlockWarrior
Nice job - sold undervalue again. Does this guy ever get the most out of a deal? What a goat of a fm compared to others in the conference. Lesson - sell at the trade deadline!!!! Don't sign an agin vet goalie to a dumb hands tied contract! Looked good to me !! 6th best regs season on franchise and made the playoffs !!! Fantastic ! LaBamba
CDC or Vancouver hails Lack as some kind of saviour, the rest of the hockey world sees a backup goalie in the final year of his contract. Quite a humbling experience.

Yes, Horvat was great but hopefully Markstrom finds his NHL game... Eeesh, I wish you hadn't summarized it like that, we seem to have lost big time over all thus far. 1. I wish Markstrom was moved for these picks. 2. I do consider Eddie part of the heart of our team - he demonstrates it by being a team guy, being VERY committed to the city, and being patient and waiting for his opportunity...speaking of which; 3. What kind of message does this send to the team? Work hard, be patient, wait for your chances...and well, we are going to trade you anyway 4. In terms of money, doesn't anyone think Lack would have taken a bit of a hometown discount to stay here? I certainly think he would have. 5. Our coach wouldn't even play Markstrom last season, even when Miller was down and out. Terrible move, and I don't know how the Canucks plan to increase attendance, and faith in the team with a move like this?
