What do you mean by "even Gaudette"?

Gaudette is one of the best players in the NCAA this year. He totally deserves to be on this list.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with Gaudette, but some posters have to find a pretext to put down some member of the Canucks organization in every post.

Although I don't condone his name calling, what he means is that Gaudette isn't expected to show much potential of making the NHL whereas Virtanen is supposed to not only show potential of making the big show, but he's supposed to be a top 6 scorer. Which is why we invested a 6th overall pick on one player, and a 5th round pick on another.

Another goal for Gaudette on the PP

Aston-Reese has 4 points on all 4 goals scored for NE.

Can't believe this guy didn't get nominated for the Hobey Baker. He absolutely deserves to be in the running.

Quick question to anyone who watches gaudette play. Is his point totals being inflated by playing with one of the top ncaa FA or is he actually having a great year on his own merit?

I have heard from NU fans that the order of best to worst is Sikura, Gaudette and AR. But Gaudette is the youngest and has improved the most on a week to week basis (according to Button). I think he will have a fantastic NHL career as he can do so much the right way. He's not one of those guys who can only do one thing, he does it all.

Mark my words, Gaudette is the steal of the 2015 draft and in any re-draft would easily go first round, and I'm sure everyone here knows how deep that draft was. Good job Benning and scouting staff. :)

In my years of watching hockey I have never seen a player whose "ceiling" is constantly upgraded so often. We were told his ceiling was hopefully hopefully 3C one day... If we're lucky. Then now it's a 2C, PP specialist, PKer, with a 200 foot game. How much higher does his 1.6 PPG sophomore season need to improve until people saying he could be a 1C.

I'm not saying he will but his ceiling is constantly being redefined.

Further to your point, I've heard from some NU fans that Gaudette is often the engine that's driving play offensively and that there have been several games where his boxscores actually undersell how much he's contributing to team scoring plays.

That's not to say he doesn't benefit from usage and linemates. But he's hardly a passenger or getting his totals padded. From what I've heard, it's often been very much the opposite.

Wayne Gretzky 2.0 with a 200 foot game.

Oh very much so. And re-reading my own post sounded harsh as Ashton-Reese is no slouch. I am very hopeful Benning can get him signed up this offseason. It's a long shot but that would be just incredible. As for Gaudette, yeah he's a driver. I just can't wait to see his improvements on a pro level.

Gaudette's 14th PP goal of the year, puts him on a seven game goal streak/eleven game point streak. 23-26-49 in 31 games now on the season.

We've always room for a right shooting forward.  Damn, imagine picking up Aston-Reese for free....

Imagine Benning being able to sign Aston-Reese as well as talking Gaudette and Boeser into signing and being sent to Utica for the rest of the year

I'm sure Green would be thankful for finally getting some talent to work with.

I would be just as happy if Gaudette played like a current Dylan Larkin

Larkin reminds me too much of Mayson Raymond - speedy perimeter player.  Gaudette gets way more involved between the dots.

Larkin is as speedy as Raymond but has more balls. the issue with Larkins lack of success this year is either a sophomore slump or other teams coaches deploying better defensive systems against him.

Those moves could put the Comets into the playoffs.  That would be fantastic for development.  Plus the parent club could send some reinforcements.
